Can we use first round GEP letter to ask for transfer to GEP school? What would be a good reason if child do not have special talents?

You can ask for transfer to GEP school but your kid cannot enter the GEP stream. At most just the high ability mainstream class. Good results will do for some schools if your kid has no niche talents. Of course, no harm in submitting the GEP first round letter for added oomph.

Beside using the first round GEP letter,u must also use yours kid school results to transfer into the GEP school. And they will asign your kid to the main stream class for the first year.If he/she did well on the SA exam with flying colors for that year, then they will consider putting the kid to the higher ability class.

My new house will only be ready mid of 2015. My girl will be p2 then. Can i hv her transfer in mid yr, or transferring is always done at a brand new yr?

            Thanks!

You can read pg 62 of this discussion.

If accepted, the school will advise when the transfer will take place. No difference to parents coz it’s a happy problem.

Schools usually only take in for next calendar year but also heard of some rare cases accepting middle of the year…

P2 in 2015 means P1 next year, reg this July? If your house is not ready, you can still apply for a school nearer the new home with the sales agreement. There is no need to go to another school then apply for transfer. Transfer is not easy unless the school in question is not a popular school.
