2013 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

Thank you for the opinion and advice on the amount of past year papers. DH has been sick for the past 1 week so we've been busy (visits to doctor, blood test, etc).
DS also got swollen eyes on Sunday. Doctor said it is delayed reaction due to haze as PM2.5 was still lingering. We were surprised that we only needed to pay $5 for DS's consultation and medicine. The clinic said they will claim the rest from govt
If I remember correctly, govt is subsidizing $30 for haze related illnesses.
DS got a lot of homework from school and he said starting next week the supplementary lessons will be 4 days a week :faint: One of them is actually Chinese's teacher own initiative so other classes may not have. I am glad that his Chinese teacher is kiasu

My DD has been very weak in her science since p3 & got botherline pass since p5. She is currently having one-to-one tuition but i find that it doesn't help. She is weak in science knowledge so even MCQ can't do.
PSLE is just 2mths down the road & i am very worried. Do you think i should change the tutor or just leave it since left 2mths only.
Can someone pls advise as i am feeling down & worry. What should l do with her now as i have little knowledge on science. :stupid: -

The current 1-1 tutor is unable to tell you what the prob is? Is the tutor highly recommended by sb or has good track records? My DD has been very weak in her science since p3 & got botherline pass since p5. If I am in your shoes n my child is unable to do MCQ correctly, I would be very worried too and would hv fired the tutor long ago.
Where are you staying? Can u send your child to a reputable tuition centre with good track records? -

Science MCQ questions are tricky.
Really need to understand the concepts behind each topic and know how to apply to our real life.
I gave wrong answers to my DD when she was in P3, which made me realise that we cannot use layman’s thinking or words to answer the questions.
Kids are expected to process and infer the results from the "experiments on paper" (quite difficult if they have not done hands-on with it).
What is pain if one has not experienced it? What is hot if you never touch a hot cup of drink?
Maybe you should go through all the topics with your kid and emphasise the main concepts and keywords before trying the test papers.
My DD’s tutor is very experienced in P5-6, you can pm me if you are interested.
