Yes indeed. It took an 'army' of parents and a long year before we succeeded. Enquiries were made to the Ministry too.MdmGiveup, I am glad that the school finally take action against your child teacher. I guess it really needs a lot of writing to get the school listen to the real concern of the parents.
If our feedback had been taken seriously last year, the teacher's performance wouldn't have worsened over the months and the kids and their parents wouldn't have to suffer in silence. The teacher wouldn't have to face the harsh punishment too.
While I am grateful that the school had finally relented, I hope we have set a precedent for more fruitful resolutions in future. -

I am surprised to hear this. I thought the Onsponge maths is for the higher ability students, so should be able to cope. Think it is the first time this is introduced.
like impressed parents by introducing Onsponge maths at P3, in the end, syllabus maths also briefly taught, thus the Onsponge maths sample do few questions, the rest copy model answers again! -
During my DD’s time, Onsponge was introduced in P4. It was a ‘white elephant’ as her Maths teacher ( that same form teacher) hardly touched on any topic. It was more for the parents to learn from the examples and teach their kids, I guess.
During P5, my DD got an experienced Maths teacher and she did teach the Onsponge Maths for about half a year along with the MPAH textbook, if I wasn’t mistaken. Then when the LRT (Learn-Revise-Test) Maths, practice papers created by RV maths dept, was introduced, this book became redundant. -

Mummies, there is a feedback address to MOE, probably can write in direct, if sch leaders still did not give a good follow up. I think should not put the P5 n P6 students at stake.

Anyway, I don’t support the overseas trips, I think pri kids are still too young.
I only like and can afford to bring my own children to further countries for family bundling trips annually. So I expect sch to concentrate in concrete academic and aesthetic arts.
My child will be upper pri next yr, so far his teachers are pretty good, so I am really scared now. Where are these black sheep,teachers? Are they in the top classes or avg classes? Is it the sch put all gd teachers in the top 2 class only? -

At least two of the recently mentioned teachers are from the top classes. But sometimes, these teachers may switch to teach the other classes.
I have no issues with the school too until my kids started P5. But over these years, I find that the exam papers, other than MT/HMT, are not well vetted by the Heads. For both lower & upper primary, there are always mistakes in the papers that were pointed out by meticulous parents.
I am curious if these mistakes are made known to the whole cohort or particularly to the class alone as some parents from other classes seem to be ignorant about these.
So please be on alert. It's not just for the few marks added but for the benefit of the kids' learning process. -
My son is currently in P6 and he is quite happy with his class right now. A few days ago he came back home from school telling me that his teacher has to leave the school due to complains of one or two parents. He said that many of the pupils were sad about it and some even cried. His results has greatly improve since this teacher started teaching him though he does not go for tuition.
I personally feel that a different teacher teaching a student will not affect his or her results. Even if it is a excellent teacher, if the student does not want to learn, his or her result will still fall. If the parents want to complain, why don’t they be a teacher and go and teach. I bet that they will realise how hard it is to be a teacher. If they claim that the student’s good results are due to tuition and themselves, why don’t they just let their child take PSLE privately? Why do they need to go to school?
I think that they should know that every teacher’s method is different and everyone has different views. Who knows? Maybe if the child quit tuition and only attend school, he or she might get an unexpected score for PSLE.
We must not be narrow sighted since we have put the trust to the teacher. So far as per my understanding that my son like to go to school and he is enjoying the teaching method of the teacher/school and I can see him improving, I should be glad that I am sending him to the right school.
Anyone who wanted to post any message into the internet please be more realistic and professional by looking into wide-angle the majority result rather than individual.
It is coming to PSLE examination, we shall spend time with our kids to support them to complete their PSLE. Now kid’s duty to score Good Result on PSLE please leave them a peaceful environment to concentrate on their studies.

Desolat2285, we are definitely talking about the same teacher. I am so shocked that you actually support such an irresponsible teacher and want him to continue teaching in such a manner to the next batch! Please refer to page 18 onwards which I had written details of his teaching methods and rebuke them if I had mistaken.
I understand that he was promoted to teach P5 & P6 partly because he was supported by a few parent volunteers who are very close to him. I hope you are not one of them. It is impossible for your child to cope alone with this teacher if he has not received any external help from tutors or parents unless your child is a genius. His compositions have improved also? Please be fair in your comments and be more objective.
Do you know he is often absent and his lessons were replaced by the Maths teacher who is the real hardworking one that seeks every opportunity to teach our kids? Do you know that he does not reply to the parents’ e-mails, including those who have requested for the Parents-Teacher-Conference by emails? Do you know that he always change the Science marks after returning the exam papers due to some errors or for other reasons?
He has been teaching our kids for 2.5 years now. If your child has improved, is there any basis for comparison since they were marked by the same teacher or does he have any special treatment?
Your child likes him, so does mine. That is because he doesn’t collect and correct their errors and remind them of their mistakes. The class can waste one whole period arguing over a few vocabs and the teacher is not able to make his stance and control the situation.
If we blindly support such educators, how can the school ever improved?
Now the verdict is out, do you doubt the principal’s decision?
P/S: By the way, I just checked with my DD. Nobody cried since he will probably leave after the PSLE while co-teaching with an experienced teacher. I really do not want to reveal so much bad things about the teacher but you forced me to. -

Teaching is not easy. Which job which commands the same pay is easy? It boils down to individual commitment & responsibility. One shouldn't neglect teaching & work on other projects if he is called a teacher and not a project manager.
Home-schooling is a good idea in such circumstances but it lacks the socializing element.
Seriously, you really dare to rely on this teacher and need not coach your kid and without tuition?
Too much relaxation & peace don't do our kids good. A right amount of pressure is more ideal. -
Teaching job is not easy. Bear in mind, teachers are NIE trained, their job is to impart their knowledge to their students. They have to be patience and passion in teaching and be committed and accountable to their students. With such qualities, then they can enjoy their job and deliver results. Our children look upon the teachers as their role model and influential in their life.
I have came across two siblings who are on the path leading them to ITE met good teachers during their N level who not only give extra miles of coaching plus changing the siblings mindset and transformed their life. They topped in O & A and now studying Laws and Finance in University. Thus a good teacher does have impact on a student’s academic result, but of course it must also be accompanied by the student’s attitudes.
These days, if teachers job is not easy, neither are parents having easy life! Some families may have to bring home dual income and yet after a tiring day, still have to deal with all these issues popping up. Homemakers mummies are very stressful too! No parents would like to make fuss or complaint about a teacher if he or she has done his or her job. Neither does parents like to incur more expenses to send their children to tuition centre if the needs does not arise. If the child has met a "black sheep" teacher, would any parents want to take such gambling bet, to rely on the teacher to teach their child and expect "unexpected score" for exam and not to resort to external help or coach on your own? please share here what was the child’s special studying techniques to survive under "black sheep" teacher? Or the child is simply gifted or genius? If under "black sheep" teacher, your child has done well by resorting to external help or parental help, then obviously who should take the credit? And if you have stayed in this school long enough, have you find out what was really covered in their remedial class? And was the remedial class really of help to the child?
I have put my complete trust in the school if not I would not have make so much effort to enrol the child here. I believed that a child’s learning journey is a partnership between parents and school. But along the way, this trust line was broken…
Advise for parents, play an active role in your child’s learning journey, so as to keep yourself updated of happenings so that your child will not be a sufferer under "black sheep" teachers.

P/s: the school marking is pretty lenient for English(writing, comprehension, oral) and science P2 markings.
