I agree with tutormum. So far that I know of, it seems VS has their orientation at an adventure camp while most schools conduct theirs in the school compound. I posted the blogspot on my FB and received comments expressing surprise that sec 1 boys went through such training. Very positive comments received. Even overseas friends commented too! Some planned to show their P6 boys.
I signed up PSG. Hope to have the opportunity to catch up and learn more.
Being a newbie, I am still groping my way about.

My son's just came back 2D1N orientation camp outside the school. It's a neighbourhood school.
I signed up PSG. Hope to have the opportunity to meet up and learn more.

Despite its low-profile, Victoria School has been a quiet achiever over the years.
Its most high profile alumni are President S R Nathan and Senior Parliamentary Secretary Teo Ser Luck.
The current Chief of Army Major-General Neo Kian Hong ( a SAF scholar ) is also a VS alumnus. He is also seen as a potential Chief of Defence Forces.
I would put VS in the same league as ACS and SJI.
All their old boys are serving Singapore well in various positions in government, business, community service and the professions. -

I don't know VS is strongest in which area. That said, it seems to be a well rounded school with great achievements in both academic and sports. If your DS is strong in any of these areas, you can try the DSA route. If your DS has been consistently scoring about 80%, I also think he will not have problem scoring at least 245 to get in. If he is not strong academically, he may have problems coping in his studies though. DS3 came back with lots of homework on the official first day of study. He was given lots of notes for science.Great school,

MG Ng Chee Khern (Dual President & SAF Overseas Scholar) is indeed from Victoria School. ( google VS website and he is part of current or former Victoria Executive/Advisory Committee VEC/VAC - mostly old boys from Victoria School plus current VS & VJC principals ; other web information like Wikipedia also confirms)
In an earlier topic on new appointment holders in SAF / SPF, \"Netman\" from edupoll forum had stated that younger brother & new Air Force Chief BG Ng Chee Meng is also from Victoria School.

[ this is not easily verified based on other web sources ]. Could Netman or others help to feedback/verify on Ng Chee Meng's secondary sch? maybe a old schoolmate/friend from VS or other places/schools? -
BG Ng Chee Meng is from Chinese High. Top student scoring 10 A1s (if I recalled correctly) in 1984. Went to Hwa Chong later.

Chinese high is now high school and Hwa chong is now JC if I'm right
