Hi, jennyfrmdblock. May I know why did you choose Gongshang Pri for your child? Is it a good school? The school compound is rather small and the CCA options are still the same as last time. I don't understand why it's popular in Tampines.

Ironically, I was an ex-student of this primary school. But I've shifted tooooooooo far away that it seems unreasonable to send my children there unless I shift to Tampines. However, if we shift, then we will be way toooooo far from my in laws, parents and my hubby's work place. 😢

The P1 registration system brings much stress to parents. :stupid:

Based on feedbacks and past history of PSLE, they are one of the good ones in Tampines and across Singapore, I guess above average. But you are right, CCA's are limited. I have applied for PV last Feb but was unsuccessful as there were 60 applications vs. 20 PV slots.

My house is within 1km from White Sands Primary in Pasir Ris. This is my other option aside from Gongshang. But I am not very familiar with the mix of students there. Hence I am checking if someone can give feedback. I'll check on the WS thread for input.

P1 registration is worst than the stress in giving birth to my son. LOL

haha jenny that would be funny if it weren't so sadly true...

Btw, on Gongshang what I've heard is that it's preferred to Poi Ching in the area, though Poi ching seems to be better academically. not sure why... something abt the teachers and the way the sch is run perhaps...
GongShang and Poi Ching areas dont overlap. The one in between are St Hilda's, Jun Yuan and East View. Both schools draw students from around the neighbourgood. Poi Ching is a SAP school and the area around was not so develop, thus higher chance of entry in the past.....however with all the new dbss, bto and condos coming up...likely to get worse.....

Yes, agree. Initially, we intended to enroll our ds to Poi Ching due to its a SAP school. After much reading from the forum and knowing how well my ds Chinese standard, I decided to enroll Gongshang Pri instead.

Chief and veterans out there, pls help me...

My story:
SG citizen, 2 kids: elder boy, younger girl.
Me: MGS, Hubby: River Valley Pri.
Staying: within 2km of Clementi pri, Pei tong pri, Qi Fa pri and Nan hua pri and Fairfield.
NH out of qn obviously.
Under phase 2b for Fairfield. I like Fairfield bcos of distance, good character programme, affiliation and mission sch cos I'm Christian.
But looking at the numbers, i'm very worried.

RV: Confirm get in due to hubby's alma mater, but very faraway. Called up, sch bus will come at 5.30am! I do not think I can commit to sending son to and fro for next 6 yrs as I will have to work.

Also, I was thinking if it's worth the distance to also send my gal there next time, as I still prefer her to go MGS. But 2 kids in diff schs is very headache.

Which sch should i choose? 😞
I would definitely prefer RV to the other schs in clementi

Hi there,

I certainly hope that you are talking about registering in 2014 because phase 2A which is for \"old boys\" and \"old girls\" is over already. Next week is phase 2B, so it doesn't matter if you are alma mater, it won't count. There is no priority for alma mater in phase 2B.

If distance is so important and RV is the preferred school (no balloting), I would just move house if I were you. If moving is not possible, then you need to try Fairfield lor… As for gal, I would not give up MGS.

Distance is impt as I can't imagine him spending 3hrs in sch bus daily. I may not own a car in future too, thanks to high coe prices. If in Fairfield, or any of e schs within 2km, he can take public transport by hinself when he's older.
Mgs is also rather nearby so no worries about that.
We can't move house for next 4yrs cos of hdb rule. Also no money to rent property near RV.

But if Fairfield so slim chances then maybe I shouldn't even do pv?
Sigh..I will definitely cry my eyes out if I don't get balloted in. I'm super emo type.

Hubby said jus go RV. Solve all the mental stress. But my poor boy suffer lack of sleep for 5 yrs..p1 afternoon session
