      hi,

can parents who have done pv before share their experience and what qualities does school look before accepting pv applicants?

also i stay >2km away and i am not a anglican so will it affect my chance of getting a pv at this school?

      thank you very much 🙂

        Hi

I am interested to do PV at sajs. I can’t seem to find any info on the school’s website though. Can ex PV share how to be a PV at the sch and the experience?

        Thanks!

You may wish to call the school at 62884303. You may wish to speak with the PV coordinator, the PV should start in July every year.

            Hi Mommies

We received a letter from the school informing us about Meet-The-Parents session (for P1) on 29 May 2013 and to pick a few choices for the slots we want. The letter says parents are encouraged to attend the session with their children. Does it mean it’s a non-school day on 29 May? The letter doesn’t say so but it seems there’s no lesson since the first slot of the session starts at 8am and the last at 3.50pm! I tried calling the school and left a message for the teacher but no reply yet. TIA!

At least for 2012 PVs (this year registrating), there's no special qualities that the school was looking for, the VP told us all those who applied were accepted when we attended the briefing. I don't think non-christian will not be accepted (we're not). There are PVs that I've met staying as far as Seng Kang/Punggol/Tampines, so as long as application is accepted, the hours rendered earns a P2B certification letter, then the chance of successful entry to school is dependent on the total number registered at P2B. This year, 56 vacancies are allocated for P2B, we have about 50+ PV that completed 40 hrs and received the letter. So, depending on the number of church members and grassroot leaders applying, the total for P2B registration should be >56. In this case, we should expect balloting for >2km or maybe 1-2km, all depending on this year applicants distance. So far, SAJS do not need to ballot for P2B, but the trend this year seem to suggest so. Fingers cross...waiting patiently till Friday.

By Feb 2012, I've started enquiring abt PV, I received a form to be filled by May and attended a briefing. By July, PVs are given duties. I received the letter by July this year (jus before P1 reg). Hope this helps in your decision to apply for PV.

My son is in P1 Unity. Nice to meet all fellow parents here. :rahrah:

Hi to all the new Saints & family,

Good to see active postings by the P1 parents. We have two sons (one P6 last year and another in P5 now), having seen them grow in SAJS, we can sincerely say that if its a very caring, nurturing and fun school. The teachers and principals are extremely approachable and the school offers lots of opportunities to EVERY CHILD to develop their potentials and leadership skills.

Please actively participate in every parent-teacher/principal session, volunteer to accompany in excusions / annual camps from P1-4 and join the PTA activities. Never miss the Parents Learning Festivals.

If you are looking to achieve purely scholastic excellence then SAJS is the wrong school. Only weak link in SAJS is their below average MT std but its not fault of the school since they do try really hard.

Parting words, partner actively with the school and you will reap the rewards.

                    Up and On!!

I am a current PV at SAJS and I am truly enjoying my time with them.

They have many activities that you can clock the hours given a year time to do so. With PV, one can truly see and experience how the school conducts classes and understand more how a boys school is like.

Dont worry, there are hardly duties like asking you to be a traffic warden in the morning or afternoon. There are wardens duties like recess times, PAL time, as a camp facilitator etc. Plentiful.

The PV lady in charge is very very approachable and friendly.

I’ve just started in July. I sent in the enquiry early of this year and was plesantly pleased they remembered my enquiry and sent me an email to inform me of a PV briefing to attend in May. So if you are keen to PV, send in your request to them early. If you do not hear from them about a briefing by say early May, drop them an email again.

After attending the briefing, we were told to fill up the application form. You may or may not wish to PV after the briefing. It’s your choice.

For this year 2013, there was balloting for more than 2km under Phase 2B.
35 vying for 25. I know, coz my gf is one of them involved in the balloting and was so lucky to be the last 2nd to be called.

I know of PV that are staying as far as woodlands, Ubi, Tampines and even Pasir Ris.
