You don't need to have studied history nor geog to take either up at Year 5/6. Unlike the sciences. Has the school given the girls a briefing on subject combination already? If yes, your dd may have missed it.
There was a briefing which we missed last term, but we saw the slides. It was more about the process rather than the link to choices at Yr 5 & 6, I think. I believe there will be another one given by someone from RI at some point. -

Ok.Thanks for reply. For the subject combinations, my dd need submit her choices during Jul 13. They need to submit again on Nov 13 as well. If Nov 13 is different with Jul 13, how is the school arrange for these ? Please advise. Thanks a lot.
They take the most updated one, which is Nov 13. I think there's another round on Nov 13 for accommodating last minute changes, and also RA/EYA results and stuff would be out by then, and some might want to change their combis based on that. -

No worries! The school has many years of experience dealing with subject combi......the Nov 13 is more critical due to RA, some girls are qualified between 2-4 RA subjects etc. hence still got time to change on Nov 13! :xedfingers: -
Can anyone to share information regarding the Edusave Scholarships for Integrated Programme Schools (ESIP) test at Sec 3 ? Thanks a lot.

Has any of your daughter received a confirmation from RGS (DSA) interview?

Has any of your daughter received a confirmation from RGS (DSA) interview?
:frustrated:
Good Morning! ^^
To Mrs Shan -
Please don't be worried
I remember in my year, the confirmations were released slowly. When I took my interview, some of my friends were still getting their confirmation emails and were then called to the interview. This might be the case for this year as well.
I also saw a previous question on subject combinations earlier on - I think the reason why Triple Sci combinations are popular is because should you not take the science in Years 3 and 4, you will definitely not be allowed to take the science in Years 5 and 6. For some students who have not made up their minds, aren't sure if they'll ever need/take the subject, it would be advisable to take the science in RGS.
This is also because if you choose to take a humanities subject in RGS, you still get the chance to take it in RI. So it is like there is a second chance to take a humanities subject but there is no way to take the science subject again.
Not taking a certain science will affect your subject combination in JC in some way and that would then affect what course you take in Universities (as they would have prerequisites).
I hope this helps!

Ah sorry if I was unclear about the part on Universities and all.
I meant that in some scenarios like -
Didn’t take Chemistry in RGS, Can’t take Chemistry in JC, Can’t take Dentistry (for some universities) because Chemistry in JC is a prerequisite.
Hope it clears up some air ^^" This might not be the case for all universities though, and thus, some research might be needed. -

Can someone tell me what is covered in ‘social studies’ in Yrs 3 and 4? I’ve just seen that it is a compulsory subject, but since girls can also choose to do History and Geography as separate subjects, what is Social studies? Does it have much overlap with either subject? Just curious as my daughter will be in Yr3 next year.
