Teck Ghee Primary

Good to know that the school actually asks the parents to help out with registration. You guys must be an active group. Looking to join too but I work full time so i am not sure if that is possible.

Hi mummyofone,
That is nice of you to want to help out. The school needs parent volunteers in various areas. Some of the task required regular commitment like the reading program or library duty. Some are more adhoc basic like the P1 registration and learning journey. Since you are working full time, you can consider these ad hoc activities. Learning journey is something that I see quite fun. If you happen to go with your girl’s class, you have a chance to meet her classmates and teacher. At the same time you can observe how she interact with her classmates. I strongly encourage parents to help out learning journey if possible.
May be we will get to meet you next year during the parent support group meeting or school activities:-). -
Hi Teck Ghee mommies like Rejoice,
I have been reading on Teck Ghee thread with interest. Was balloted out at one of the branded schools in Bishan and am very unsettled, whether to try again at 2C. Teck Ghee is also one of my options.
I’m wondering whether you can share anything about TG’s average results, e.g. quality passes?
I’m also worried there won’t be any space left at 2C sup at TG if I try again at the other school we tried at 2B. Does anyone know how many SC <1km had registered so far?
Thanks! -
I’d like that alot. Thanks.

Just last yr, DS good friend had to try ballot the bishan branded school for phase 2C as they stay just a block away - cant live to regret... but had 40% chance only and was ballot out. Next 2 best choices teck ghee and kuo chuan filled by >2km n PR already so no turn back. If girl still have choice of marymount, boys left with townsville or guangyang.Hi Teck Ghee mommies like Rejoice,

Hi rawafish,
Thanks for stopping by the forum! I can understand your concern on the registration cause I was in the exact same shoes three years ago for DS1 and I stay in Bishan too! Glad that I found Teck Ghee and never regretted since
Since MOE moved away from emphasizing PSLE result for primary schools, the school no longer publish the high score and top scorer formPSLE. I am not too sure if the school will let you know the average score if you call them.
Looking at the number today, I think likely there won't be phase 2C sup again for Teck Ghee this year. I believe there are parents monitoring the situation closely and only register on the third day. Hence there may be a chance for balloting for SPRs in 2C this year.
P1 registration is a stressful event especially for those competitive schools. Weigh your options wisely and we wish you all the best. -
Exact same shoes indeed.
The difference will be there most prob won’t be a 2C(s) for Teck Ghee this year, so like Ningjago said, choices are GY or townsville or further away Montfort.
Too tough. Sigh. -
Rawafish,How about kuo chuan? They had after school care inside the school after upgrading.

Indeed tough decision. All parents want to give the best to their children so we understand what you are going through. I think each primary school is a good school but each has its strength. Some schools have strength that you may be interested in while other schools may be more of interest of others. You and your spouse and your child will know which is the best school for your child. Consider the strength you are looking for and your priorities. Then weigh that against the odds of getting into the school. You should be able to short list your first and second choice :-).Exact same shoes indeed.

Rawafish,
Yes, agreed with rejoice that every school has its strength and may your child enjoys his/her 6 years of primary education journey with the final school of choice. Do visit our TGPS Thread and share with us your child journey. Many times, we learnt a lot from different schools practices. As parents, we are also learning everyday with our child.
Good Luck!
