Hi, does anyone knows the key difference between monitor and hall monitor?

The duration of duty for monitor is 1 term. What about hall monitor and flag duties? Is it for a term or full year? Any clue of the selection criteria?

        Hi,

Class monitor (term only) for class and hall monitor (whole year) for hall. These hall monitors and flag lowerers were selected last week. 2 hall monitors and 1 flag lowerer from each class. They are given additional responsibilities like leading the pledge next year and chasing others to the hall for assembly. Flag lowerers leave class earlier to prepare for sch song n national anthem.

I would think these children selected must be well-behaved with good leadership skills and doing ok in studies. If your child is selected, let him or her enjoy these responsibilities. Having said the above, does your child possess the above-mentioned qualities? Or it's neither, just that the form teacher likes him or her! 😆 Maybe we can hear from some mummies here whose children are doing these duties.....

My girl in P2 was selected as the class monitor in the 1st semester of this year. Basically, my girl is pretty matured, well behaved and band 1 in her results. She also quite helpful and able to get along with her classmates well. i do no know what is the teacher's criteria in selection of monitors, but from what i see those selected as Hall Monitor are generally good in their academics, while for class monitor, i see it as more of character and suitability of carrying out the duties. Having say so, i also see that the top student in my girl's class was not selected as class or hall monitor too.

My boy is also going Pei Chun next year.

We are looking for before school-care. Any to recommend?
There are a no of student care around Pei Chun. Opposite the main gate along Lor 7, there is one at the HDB block where Sheng Siong is located. There were a few other enrichment centres which Pei Chun engage to run their enrichment programmes in the same centre.

Then opp the side gate along Lor 6, there is a PCF one at blk 44 or 46 and another private one at blk 49. I always see the staff from blk 49 walking the kids to school in the afternoon.

                    Need some advise here.

Anyone staying in Sengkang but child studying in Peichun?
How do you send the child to school?

We will be shifting to Sengkang in 2015/2016, so now thinking if should transfer my kids over to the school in Sengkang or let them stay put in Peichun.
You may want to consider the possibility that the school maybe temporarily relocated for renovation during this period. It is targeting to go single session in 2016.

so meaning they will relocate in 2015 to the temporary sch so that they can renovate the school to be ready by 2016? Actually i do not know how they gg to renovate. They have the highest intake of students each year and i dun see how they can increase the no of classrooms to accomodate a single session, unless they take over the land next to them.

Hi Lionqueen, I thought they wont be any relocation even though renovation is done. I am also wondering how they are going to increase the number of classrooms with the limited spaces given.

Hi Precious2.Lee, my boy was selected as flag lowerer in term 3 of p1 and he carried out his duties in p2. He was selected to be a monitor in semester 1 but my boy rejected the role. OMG! He did take up the monitor role recently in semester 2 and he likes the role. 🙂 I would think the selection for monitor, hall monitors and flag lowerers is based on their behavior and academic performance in school. Like what the other mummies shared, it is through observation by the teachers to be selected for the roles. Not sure what they look at specifically. I wasn’t even aware that there would be hall monitors and flag lowerers. According to my boy, the pupils would move on to be prefects later on in upper primary which I am not sure how the prefect criteria would be about. My boy has been achieving band 1 in his studies and he is well behaved and responsible. The feedback given by his teachers about him are generally positive. I would think that the role is not important. Most importantly, they enjoy school and is learning well there.
