Can you share how is the pathlight assessment test like? How many rounds are there? What kind of questions they ask? Need to pay for it? How long did you wait for the results to be out?

nugget, there is only 1 assessment and its done in group setting, about 8 children in one group. I don't know what was done during the assessment, but my doter told me that she did reading, worksheets and games. No fees.

The assessment was done in June, and school told us that we will get an outcome before end of July. They were true to their word, results have just been released.

Thanks ArielMermaid, nugget for your feedback. My son is going to P1 next year and it is a difficult decision between mainstream and Pathlight. He is currently attending a mainstream kindergarten and has been there since 3 yrs old. He has been coping well so far and also no major complaints from the teachers - also the children at his pre-school are all very nice children. But the transition to primary one is a major change so I am worried whether he can adapt well to the mainstream environment. He is quite weak in expressive himself. So bullying is a major concern too.

How old is your son? And what are some of the key things to take note of in pathlight? Do share with me on what to expect for PL as my doter will be joining the school next year. I have a lot to learn where this is concerned.

Yes mummies, after the arduous wait we have finally been accepted into PL. I have had more than 50% confidence that we will get in but when the news came it still brought a lot of relief. And joy. And to a certain extent apprehension.

Its the beginning of a new journey, and I hope it will bring along new discoveries, new achievements. Yes, whether PL or mainstream, there will be different ups and downs. Paths may be different, but the love and patience and courage that we have for our ASD child always will be the same.

My son is 7 this years, and he's in P1 Foundation. He is not strong academically, so being in foundation is good cos he has one more year to catch up. Actually, there's nothing much to take note of; they seem to be very well taken care of and the teachers and principal are very experienced with handling them. We have Parent Communication Night every quarter- during these events, the school updates the parents on the staff movement, the activities planned for the kids, etc.; there are also presentations by the children, experienced psychologists,and even adults with autism. So far, there has been one official review with the class teachers; however, if you intend to pick your child up after school, the teachers would talk to you briefly when they bring your child to you. My son is on the school bus, so I don't really get to see the teachers that often. But they'd usually reply to my emails promptly or call me if they have any updates, concerns, etc.

A bit emo today, my boy didn't get selected for the first batch of students for PL's 2014 intake.


Currently at a loss, probably will take the day to brood and decide next steps tomorrow. :sad:

Same for my son as well. He did not get selected for the first batch of students for PL 2014 intake.
They told me that he is still under review.
Anyone has an idea what that means? Is this something like a wait list or reserve list?

I can totally understand your sense of lost. But if this time can’t get in, can apply again? Or it could be a case of not enough vacancy?
