i don't think being a staff of the sec sch allows you to register your child in the affiliated pri sch under 2A2. however, to be 100% sure, call the pri sch and ask.Hi
I read that under phase 2B(PV) that distance from school matters if demand exceeds lots available. How about 2A2? Can you be staff member of the secondary school, affliated to the school of choice? -
I’m confused with the registration. My child is due for registration next year. Anyone can advise me on this?
I intend to enrol my child to my former pri sch at west area under Phase 2A2 (former student phase), but am staying at north.
My mum is taking care of my child and stays more than 2KM from my former pri sch.
Which phase will I be? Phase 2A2 or under the more than 2KM (since using grandparents’ address also fall under this phase)?
And which address should I use for registration if is under Phase 2A2, my mum’s or mine? Does it matter if address is reflected a north area address? -

Distance from home to school only plays a part in registration when the number of registrants exceeds the number of places. Thn those staying nearest to school ie. < 1km will be given priority for a place.
If you are registering in phase 2A2, the distance does not matter since you are pretty much guaranteed a place. So you can just use your own address for the registration. -
Hi BigDevil,
Thanks for the reply. I read and got pretty confused with the phases then the addresses. At least now, I know which phase to go for.
P1 Registration is such a big headache with so many procedures stress -

Consider yourself lucky! Just show up during phase 2A2, register, and be done with it. Other parents have to go thru the nerve wreckingHi BigDevil,

balloting!

Hi Parents,
My hubby is a grassroot exec member, but as he got his status only in oct 09, we may not be able to register our child under phase 2B since he has not served 1 full year, but we still hope to try, maybe they will let us go thru cos he is very active in the NC. Any idea if this ever happened?
Anyway, becos we are not staying near to our sch of choice, we may need to ballot under 2B. if we are unsuccessful after balloting, then we hope to register our child in another school under another of our property address. of course, we will change our address on NRIC. Problem is, since we have registered once under 2B with address A, will the system picks up that we are now registering under 2C with address B, and rejects us?
Appreciate if any parents can shed some light, we are literally pulling our hairs out everything we have this discussion.... :?: -
daniel_gsl,
Religion is a very personal thing. No school will force it on the child.
My son is in a Presbyterian school but we are not Christians. He has been in a Christian environment since Nursery and now he refuses to step into the temple. -
Hi
I am a newbie here and hope someone can advise me further. My kid is born in 2006
1) is it under Phase 2A2 no need to ballot at all? My hubby was a former student of Catholic High in his primary school days. Heard that even in Phase 2A1 & 2A2 already taken up most vacancies.
2) If Phase 2A2 also need to ballot, will they give priority to within 1kn then within 2km then my turn coz I don’t stay in his proximity at all?
3) I have another plan to enrol my kid in another catholic school. However, we don’t stay there too exceed 2km. But I plan to get church letter so that we can enrol under phase 2B. If phase 2B exceed the quota, ballot will commence. However, how they ballot? Those within 1km got in first then within 2km then if still got vacancies, then ballot for those exceed 2km? or so long is under this phase 2b, they ballot without giving any priority?
4) I understand that the community member / PV and affialiation fm church are under same phase 2B, will priority given to PV and community member?
5) How to get church letter? How soon we need to get it ready?

Hi precious_angel
1. Based on past years’ statistics, balloting has NOT occurred for Phase 2A2 or earlier.
2 & 3. For ANY phase, if the number of applicants exceed available places, balloting will take place. Allocation will be by proximity to school; that is, within 1km, 1-2km and above 2km.
Say school has 10 places, and there are 4 applicants staying within 1km, 8 applicants within 1-2km and applicants above 2km. Those 4 staying within 1km will be allocated first, then the 8 staying within 1-2km will ballot for the remaining 6 places. Those staying above 2km will be rejected in this example.
4. Phase 2B are community leaders, PV, church and associations. No special previlege given within the same phase.
5. Letter must be produced during registeration. -

Ask your church leader for the letter. Whether you get it or not depends on your church's criteria for such letters. It may be no. of years of membership at that church, level of participation, etc. You need the letter before you register for Phase 2B.
