She very nice. I ordered new name tags during the last PTM. The name tags were not ready when the bookshop changed hands. But Aunty came down to find my daughter to pass the tags to her. When buying bks, she super good tell me which ones don't need to buy.

HUH? what happened? I can't imagine our friendly bookshop changed into corporate type bookshop. This is primary school - and smack in the middle of neighbourhood leh.

Yes, I do love auntie (although I encountered screw up last year when I bought the school textbooks). She will tell me what I don't need to buy - can't imagine a public listed company tell me not to increase their sales. My friend whose kids are in another school was not told the same.

Also, auntie was very scrupulous when it came to ordering of name tag. Love her proactiveness and customer service.

Anyone know why there is such a change???

follow on question. So does my kid need to flash popular card to get discount? And should I make a maybank supp card for them to enjoy 5% rebate?


Money is tight.....any increase in price is so not welcomed.

My dd1 said previously mechanical pencil was $1, now $1.60


Last 2 yrs I compared the prices and our beloved bkshop was selling slightly cheaper than popular when it came to textbks.

Although Popular was offering free delivery, I still supported our dear bkshop, not becos they were selling at 10 cents or 20 cents cheaper but becos I wanted to support our dear dear bookshop. The Aunty was soooo nice somemore she will chk with teachers if certain issues not clear becos she so in tune with the school liao.

That was my first thought becos at first dd1 did say no one was visiting the \"new\" bookshop becos only have files and exercise books. But a few days later she told me the crowd ret becos all the \"goodies\" appear liao. Yesterday, she told me, price increased.

I too wonder why do they need to change the bookshop vendor. The auntie is really nice, very patient and will advise what needs to buy and what needs not. And the things are cheaper too right?

WERE....things were cheaper.

Haiz...wonder what else is going to increase (not salary for sure). My friend just told me her kid's school raised canteen prices becos of increase in ingredients, transport etc prices. I am not sure if HWS canteen has gone the same way.

Just brooding. Will we find that one day our kids need kopitiam cards becos their school canteen is now operated by kopitiam (or any of the others...I have no particular preference). :gloomy: :sad:
