      traineeks:
I have not been thru the activities in NJC and so cannot really comment on how disorganised the NJC team has been.
      Here's a few incidences:

      1. Registration from 7.20am to 8am. Venue: Hall.
We walked past the students stationed outside the hall. No signboard or notice put up to let us know that the students are supposed to do registration. No student stopped us from entering the hall. Ended up we did not do registration. When time was up, a student on stage then announced the names of JH1/JH3 supposed to be in which Orientation Group (OG) becos the registration is now closed. By the time we left the hall, we then saw the list of names on a white board located at one side of the hall. How about putting two white boards with the same info at both sides of the hall? Simple solution right?

      2. Flag rising at around 7.45am
The student on stage told us to stand up for the flag rising ceremony. Then we waited and waited and waited. Finally we were asked to sit down. The reason given: The flag rising ceremony took place at the parade square (which is some distance from the hall). The national anthem is played by NJC band. We in the hall cant hear anything. I think someone should let us (in the hall) know about this first and we could have a few mins of silence for the ceremony right. But we were just let standing waiting. Funny right?

      3. While we were in the hall waiting for the principal, we could hear some voices in the background, not from anyone standing on the stage. The person was giving a speech. I believe it is coming from the parade square. Weird we cant hear the band performing but can hear voices.

      4. Then again a voice from the background making an annoucement. This time it was very loud and clear, telling students to go out to do sth (I cant remember exactly what). So many pple started walking towards the exit. Then someone went on stage and told us to ignore the annoucement becos it was not meant for us in the hall.

These are not related to the activities organised for the students. These happened to parents waiting for the principal's welcome message.

      5. I find NJC lacking in signboards for directions for newcomers. One wont know where the toilets are. To make things worse, the gents and ladies are located in opposite ends of a block. On Monday, A4 sized toilets signs were put up, simply pointing to the left n right. I walked towards one end and then find right at the end of the block. Maybe I am pampered by good signboards in shopping malls. Similarly I needed to ask for directions to the sch bookshop. Maybe the person who designed the campus likes mazes?

      6. No doubt the sch does not concern itself with the selling of uniforms/PE attire whatsoever, is it really necessary to have three vendors? I heard that such vendors are selected based on tenders. I wld gladly pay a little more just to have the convenience of one-stop shopping.

      7. The sch knows the total student intake, hence the no. of sch ties/collar pins needed for the new batch of students. Simply communicate this info to the vendor so that the vendor can prepare enough? Or at least the vendor can tell the sch how many wont be able to buy on 11th Jan?

      I know I sounded a spoilt brat.

I can understand your frustration, especially so when you have appealed for your child to get into NJC. But I hope that you do not let your frustrations and negative moods affect the enthusiasm of your child in the school.

Do stay positive and maybe ,you can try giving constructive feedback to the school admin or the parents' support group. I'm sure there's a positive platform to air your frustrations. šŸ˜„

Wonder if anyone got a mild shock in one of the ladies' toilet? A pair of legs lying on the floor from one of the cubicles?

              I was speechless.
              Huh ??? What was that ? :?

                Hi, I am new here.

I have a son in JH2 this year. He is now in boarding school again, after the first one in the last semester of last year.

Any parents here with any comments about the way the enhanced boarding school is run and whether they find it good?
                Hi Bryan,

Glad to see someone like you with 1 year experience in JH1.

Can you also tell us your experience & opinion in JH1 ?

                Thanks

Actually the board was there. You are supposed to see the OG number from the list, mark your attendance at the entrance, get the yellow booklet & proceed to sit at the OG number.

I think the problem was there were too many people crowding around, that was why you didn't see the notice board

So, the sound from the Parade Square unknowingly transmitted into the hall. I believe it was a genuine oversight on their part. The irritating thing was that the sound was still there when the Principal was giving her speech. Fortunately, they realized it by then & then switch it off....

One of the student even bring me to the bookshop itself !!

This vendor, especially the vendor for Polo T-Shirt is too pampered. How can they not deliver after school has started ? It is still out of stock !! And why can't they tell us who the vendor for the Polo Tshirt is ?

How can the they on one hand say collar pin is compulsory but then is out of stock. How can the discipline master emphasize on punctuality but the Polo TShirt was not punctual !! Similarly, tie also no stock !!
