very true. competition are everywhere. if a child is being given the right attitude, it would benefit him for life.

according to experts, many parent sacrifice the most crucial period for social and moral for academic skills. as such a lot of these child ended up with poor social and moral skills. one example, PRC of today.
Yes, this is what is lacking in spore education. My girl is so shy and quiet and coming aus we see kids are so outspoken. I do not understand why our kids must juggle two heavy loaded language subjects and at the end most are either good at one or none. Kids in Mel learn the second language less intensively n can choose what they want to do from pri to sec. Our kids in spore simply do not have the choice and time. I like spore edu system but the system can be better if Moe can look into this....

For PRC, though u may say they lack social skill but most of them are high achiever or scholars in spore, my guess is they are already strong in Chinese and for them to juggle just one language subject is definitely easier than sporean kids. This itself already disadvantage our kids.

this is utter rubbish. PRC is good becos they have gone thru a lot of classes since a young age. singapore children dun go thru so much as compare to them. as like your dd gone thru hell and fire to enrol in aus top school which she can excel.

however, gone are the moral education. i have t take back my words on social skills, many PRC master their own way of social skills widely see at geylang.

wihout The foundation of moral and integrity all the education in the world is useless.

I thought this is Hokkien Huay kuan thread, ur own \"negative\" opinion on PRC shouldn't be expressed here, pay respects to the ancestors who were migrated from Fujian, China. There are always black sheep in every country. Do you know why some of the PRCs are high achiever in SG school? Because they are not in their home ground, out of their comfort zone, they need to work hard to gain recognition/survival, just like the Hokkien ancestors. I studied & worked here for 17 years already, a SC now, a kiasu parent like anyone of you here, a true blue Hokkien, also feel shame of some black sheep's wrong doing, but in a multi-culture country with multi-nationals like SG, words has to be carefully choose when published public, if not, you will end up like the NTUC top management or some \"SMART\" medical school student.

I must agree that there are black sheep everywhere. I have PRC friends who worked and lived here for many years too. according to them, many Chinese family force their children to pursue academic success from a very young age and face a problem having the children to rediscover the moral values later in life. They too agree that many young parents face problem imparting the right values to children.

having said that many PRC who stayed here for over a decade would definitely see the difference. I have visited my PRC relatives (same ancestor) and discovered that although our ancestor has the same value. their greed and moral sense is quite low.
