All About Getting Priority Registration

nature:
My IC show my private pty addr at marine parade & I stay there but I heard if I owned HDB they will take it as base instead of where I am staying. Is it true? :?
They only take the address shown in your NRIC.
During registration, the only system they use is to check whether you had already registered in other schools. As far as your address is concerned, they check your NRIC. They don't go into another system to check if you own a HDB flat. Not as far as I am aware of. -
Dear all, thanks for clearing my doubt.

dear parents,
i’ve already posted this question under the acs primary topic in the parents’ networking section, so apologies if anyone has to read this twice.
my husband graduated from acs primary. my question is, to qualify for the earlier phases of the primary one registration exercise:
1. what evidence is needed to prove that he graduated from acs primary (psle cert? report cards?)
2. if you did not graduate from the pri school but still attended it (eg p1-3, before transferring to another school), are you counted under this phase (just curious)?
3. alumni association: do members of the acs old boys association get priority to get their sons into acs primary? how is this calculated (for eg, you may have gotten into the acs association by graduating from acjc, but did not actually attend acs primary).
any and all answers appreciated. thanks all! -

2. You are still eligible for Phase 2A2 for the school.
3. If the alumni covers the Primary school, you can apply for Phase 2A1. However, you need to call up the alumni to confirm this fact. -
Hi, I am staying at Serangoon area. My nearby school will be YangZheng primary school as St Gabriel is a boy’s school so I have only one choice. I hope that our gal can be effective bilingual in her studies and be active in CCA. She will be going to P1 in year 2012.
My hubby want to put my gal in PeiChun or St Nicholas and I was thinking Ai Tong. Looking at the past PSLE results Ai Tong’s results is better than PeiChun. But PeiChun’s chinese language is very strong. Apparently, Yang Zheng’s standard is getting better. Anyone care to share?
As we are staying more than 2KM from both schools, my husband was saying his father has affiliation to Pei Chun and St Nicholas. Besides he is a retiree teacher and currently relief teacher under contract. Is it true that that will allow our gal to cut q?
I saw that Ai Tong is opening the PV application. Can I apply as my hubby and I are both FT working parents? What do PV do or what can they do? How about PeiChun’s? Is it still open for application? How many hours must we serve?
Thank you! -

the schs u mentioned are very popular and you will probably encounter balloting at some phase.Hi, I am staying at Serangoon area. regardless of any affiliation your husband's father has with whichever sch, your child will not get priority. being a retired teacher or a relief teacher doesn't count too. you need to be a permanent staff member of the sch you want to register your child in.
as for pv, different schs have different deadlines and requirements. it's best to call them to check. do specify clearly to them which year you are registering your child and/or which year she will be in p1.
do take the time to search/browse thru the sticky threads here to get a better idea of how the registration process works. -

I saw that Ai Tong is opening the PV application.
For the past 4 years, Ai Tong had required balloting in phase 2B for those staying within 2km. So if you are staying outside of 2km, it is pretty much hopeless for you. Better look at other alternatives. -

Some answers you have to grapple. Do you want your child to be doing heavy duty travelling everyday for the next 6 years? Ai Tong, Pei Chun are SAP schools with heavy focus on chinese - is this what you want for your child? I heard of this mother - aiming to get her child into SAP school; yet can say that her kid's chinese is terrible....I say this is setting up the child for 6 years of torture. (sorry, I very pai)
That said, any affiliation has to be from parents - your father in law's affiliation is only applicable for your hubby.
For PV work, minimum is 40 hours; some schools may request for more. Check it up with the school. Look to the KSP listing to find out what your chances are - typically anything greater than 2KM is quite touch and go (heng, nonid ballot; suay, won't even have chance to ballot).
Good luck in your search! -

Thank you hquek for the sharing. Actually there are direct buses from my house to Bishan & TP. So I believed travelling is not a problem. I would really like my gal to be effectively biligual especially in Chinese so that is ok with me. Only thing I worry is if my gal can take the stress.Hi Liling,

BTW what is KSP listing? How about Yang Zheng? Is it consider as a good school? From the look of the school it is not so appealing but I saw their past 3 yrs PSLE results is not so bad.
Thank you!!

I am going to register my son this year for P1 in 2011. I am currently staying in Sengkang. I can put him in Ai Tong Pri Sch under phase 2A but the distance may be too far. If I am to put him in Nan Chiau Pri Sch, I need to ballot under phase 2C. I am not sure what should I do. :? :?
I would like to hear your say or if you have the same experience before and what was your decision.
