What is your plan now? Try GESPS?[/quote]

I'm thinking between GES, New Town and Queenstown Primary school.
The other 2 are much further from home but I'm hoping it's less rough for my girl.

Any comment or advice are very appreciated!

Will go for GES out of these 3. Heard alot of ppl said that the principal is very caring. In terms of psle result for last yr, GES scored the highest in bukit merah area! But for 2c supp GES has the least vacancy left for now…also the pri 1 will be afternoon session which I don’t really like.

            Hi hi

THanks for remembering me. No i didn't get it.

The ridiculous part was as at yesterday 5 Aug, my daughter status has been updated to Singapore Citizen (we applied 1 year ago). But the school refuse to accept it. Do you think it's unfair that they didn't give the slot to a new citizen but give it to PR applicant instead?

I'm writing to MOE to demand an answer for my case 😞
            Hi Desparatemummy,

Really feel disappointed for you as well. However, most impt thing is to secure a place 1st. I hope u can get what you wanted at phase 2Cs....

Actually, you should be complaining to NRD or MOM for taking so long to process your daughter's citizenship. MOE has to follow the rules strictly because the stakes are so high for many parents trying to go for the same school as you were targeting. By 5 Aug, Phase 2C registration has been closed for 4 days. There is no reason for MOE to waive its rules to accommodate you or others who may have somehow managed to change their addresses to within 1km just to escape the ballot.

Also, having been a PR yourself, I would have thought you would be more understanding towards the PRs who have had to ballot to get their child a place in the schools. I can understand your frustration at the situation, but it should be directed at the right party.

                Hi Chef

Thanks for ur advice. But you probably don’t understand the sacrifies that we went through, gave up our citizenship and went through many escalations and distress in order to get the status updated on 5 aug. Should I be put together w other PR who didnt have to go thru all these? And I do not blame ICA, they tried their best to fasten the process but there are system constraint. On 31 jul when I register I have ICA letter that her status updating in progress but it’s not accepted by d school. So who is not being considerate n helpful here?

Anyway, I don’t want to cry over spilled milk. After all these encounters, my trust n hope with APS management is no longer there. And I don’t want to share here my experience in details when I talk to them, there was no sincerity at all. Im not saying this because I couldnt get in, some people are sincere abt helping even though they cant help… Just personal feeling, no intent to discourage other parents here…Will move on fr here.

Thanks qms and Dino for ur kind wishes

....So who is not being considerate n helpful here?...

You requested the school to be \"flexible\" when it comes to your daughter's citizenship. In another thread, another parent requested the school to be \"flexible\" because registration was \"only oversubscribed\" by nine. Yet, in another thread, another parent had hoped the school would be \"more flexible\" when it comes to using the address in NRIC as both the husband and wife had different addresses in them. The list goes on.

Looks like schools have a tough job when it comes to P1 registration. Imagine the staff have to face this every year.

For every exception a school makes to an applicant, it incurs the wrath of many, many other applicants. So, what can they do?

                  🦆 :siam:

That you had the ICA letter is a new fact and it does support your case. Does the \"status updating in progress\" letter provide a definitive confirmation that ICA has accepted her application? If so, then you have the right to challenge the school's decision.

If it only provides an indication that her application is in progress, with an unclear outcome, then we cannot blame the school for its stand.

In any case, this is a useful reminder for all PRs considering citizenship to do it at least 2 years in advance of the P1 Registration to avoid this heart-breaking situation. And you have probably set the precedent for MOE to consider and review its policies if the \"status updating\" letter confirms the citizenship of applicants.

                        Hi Desparatemummy,

                        word of encouragement......

I know u are feeling frustrated...... but take heart that at the end of the day u are still the best educator and the best one ur daughter can have..... do try to secure a place 1st..... and then decide if you want try to trsf to another school of your choice at a later stage...... but who knows ur kid may have enjoyed that school so much by then.... that u don't even want to consider any other trsfs by then......

All the best...... and don't lose hope.... and if you don't mind, do continue keep us updated of your progress....

nice to have known you here...... cheers..... 😄
