I've checked their website and it looks like they have their own exam. Anyway, I will keep them in mind should DS need to learn pop theory.
Thank you for your help!

Hello all!
Need to check - if the piano lesson is conducted with a 88-key piano, is there an issue if I buy a 76-key keyboard and use it for the time being? -
Imami:
Well, it will probably suffice if you are just using it for beginner lessons for a few months, though 88 keys digital pianos can be bought for lesser than 1K and no reason not to get one.Hello all!

I am looking for a piano teacher in CCK or willing to travel to teacher studio.
Trial lesson required to access the teacher’s suitability for my P2 kid who is highly emotional sensitive. -
What is considered a full time piano teacher?
If the teacher is also a tutor or doing a blogshop, hi that consider full time? Lol. -
Hi,
My child 7 has been learning piano since Jan last year. Started off with Cristofori but due to time incompatibility, is taking private lessons with the same teacher privately starting from this year as my child is comfortable with her. However as I do not have any music background nor experience in this area, I have a feeling that I may overcharged after I just did a check on piano rates.
My child has not yet undergone any piano grading as she says it is not necessary as only grade 5 theory and grade 8 practical are the important ones. After I insisted that going for grading is crucial for the experience at least, then she told me to go in March 2014 for grade 3 practical. What’s your view on this?
Her charges for 45 min lessons 4 times a month is:-
grade 1 - $150,
grade 2 - $170,
grade 3 - $190
I was also told to start on theory lessons and her rates are separate and for grade 1 is $100 for 30 min 4 times a month.
Pls kindly advise if her rates are reasonable.
Also appreciate any recommendations on good piano teachers in west. -
Happy feet
Cristophori is charging me 130 for grade 2. I so for the teacher to go your place 170 is about right. Yours consider grade 3, so have to factor that in. One teacher quote me 190, another 160, another 150 for grade two. First one is come my place, second and third is go their place.
The centre quote me almost 70 for 30min individual theory. Your 100 may factor in transport?
We don’t have time for separate lessons and no plans to accelerate so we opting for someone who can cover theory and practical within 45min. The three teachers I contacted all said can, their quote as above.
I am trying out this new one. She is a member here, I just found out. If good, I let you know. But travel to her place. -
Hi jedamum,
Thank you so much for your reply! Good to know it’s close to market rate. Was just getting a bit concerned what I did a google search & found much lower rates.
Anyway what is your view on necessity of grading & also just how of curiosity, how to determine if piano teacher is good or not? Like will they share tips on piano learning etc. Current teacher sort of just go through piano scores & then self practice thereafter I mean is this the norm? I mean like to put it bluntly, can just self teach…you know what I mean…
I have some worries that if change & the next teacher is worse then need to go through whole cycle again… =(
I wonder why theory lessons need to separate charge?
