I sent my son for the interview ytd. The person in charge said that the result will be released by this evening or latest by Wednesday. Kids that went for the interview will be placed in CO, WL or rejected if they find the child not suitable for the school.

Thank you for your information, and hope good news for your son. I cannot do anythings until the results being released.

Did he mention how many are attending the interview? This year seems to have more students going for the interview.

Next year is the school 10th anniversary. Look like they may be ramping up the possible intake for 2014 DSA cohort. Past year Cohorts size after DSA + PSLE have been (since 2011) something like 129, 13x, 13? less than possible max intake of 170.

But then they have always been emphasizing quality instead of quantity.
Mind you (according to my Y3 DD and her seniors) the life of NUSH Y1-4 can been describe as honeymoon, earth-hell, hell, hell. The amt of workloads get increasing heavier all kind of (individual + group) projects and the content get harder, the expectation getting higher, and for the better student in Y2/Y3/Y4 cohorts they could be studying 3 or 4 additional modules like computing, Olympiacs, 3rd Languages etc and those (esp girls) strong in languages and humanity also took part in all kind of competitions like Moot Parliament Programme (MPP) , Earthquake competition , Eureka and endless preparations for Physics, Maths, Chemstry, Biology and Informatics Olympiads. On top of that there are also Exchange programme with various international schools.

So parents be prepare for your DS/DD to be psyched up to enter NUSH - it tough to get in and even tougher to sustain and perform well in there.

Is the diploma exam at the end a one-off do or die like the 'A' levels or are assessments spread over the semesters? How do the olympiads and additional modules affect the final diploma?

Progress and achievements are recorded and computed throughout the 6 years. However from 2013 on wards, only results from Y3-Y6 are counted in their final graduation CAP. The student gets a NUSH Diploma with High Distinction, Distinction, Merit or Pass depending on their Cumulated Aggregate Points. Perfect CAP would be 5.0. Yes, certain modules like 3rd langauges (if done well) could be added to beef up their CAP, Olympiads likewise..

                        Hey all,

The DSA results should be released anytime soon now right? I mean, the candidates have to choose accept or reject for the upcoming preview on the 17th August, isn't it?... and that is like 4 days away!!!
                        :siam:

Do candidates really have to choose so soon? If an offer is given, we just go for the preview first, right? When is the cut off date for all DSA decisions by kids?

Dearest Travel Mummy... This is the ONLY school my son DSA. If they offer, we are taking.. 😄

If my son could not get in, we'll just have to wait for PSLE results then....
