I had visited Berries (Mountbatten) & look at the materials that meant for N2. Seem rather structured type where the kid would learn how to read 2-3 character by end of term 4.

My boy has attended 2 lessons in Berries West Coast. I am still not sure whether the teacher is good or not, but my boy has not complained. But the assistants are not very good and do not seem to be very caring. If you have a crying child, better stay with her, don't just leave her there.

Tamarind, just curious why you change the centre since the standard of lessons is the same across Woodlands & Bukit Batok? TIA.

Their N1 class student:teacher ratio is very small which I like. But the centre near me has a schedule which does not fit ours, so I had to give it a miss.

My kids are one year apart. My girl attended N2 class at Bukit Batok. When she was in K1, I wanted to start my son in N2, but Bukit Batok did not have K1 and N2 classes together at a suitable time slot for me, and I did not want to go there twice a week. So I moved to Woodlands where they have K1 and N2 at the same time on Saturdays. This year my girl is in P1, she says she does not want to attend Chinese enrichment anymore. I am OK because her Chinese is roughly about my P3/P4 standard already (during my time). I am very tired of traveling all the way from Jurong West to Woodlands, and West Coast Berries just started, so I moved my boy there

Long story hor. But I don't mind changing since the standards are the same. I cannot stand going to the same shopping mall (to wait 2 hours) for more than one year any way.

Actually what impressed me was when I saw my boy's test paper in May of his K1 class :

That time my boy was not even 5 years old, his birthday is in September. I did not believe that he can do that paper, checked with the teacher and she said he did it independently. At that age I think I don't know any Chinese words yet.

Berries at Mountbatten

I brought my son tothis centre for trial a year ago (he was 3yo)

The teachers were nice and caring, willingness to give feedback. Smiling always. We visited the centre couple of months ago as i was cosidering to send him there.

The 2 young ladies at reception are very friendly.

I never sign him up at the end due to personal reason.

Till now, my son still remember the teacher and the 2 young ladies there and keep telling me that he likes the centre and wanna to attend. He remembers what he had learnt too.

Is really good trying.

Just to share with the rest of the parents on Berries! So far, my daughter enjoy her Berries class. When she get her new reading book this year, she try to read the whole book and didn’t want me to read to her. She get to learn 成语 that even her P4 brother has not learn yet but yet she enjoy so much that when she get the card for 成语, she hold on to it the whole day after class. Sometimes when she reads her reading book to me, she will tell me parts of the video she saw in class that related to what she’s reading. I’m not sure whether is my daughter good memory or not, but definitely Berries course do arise the interest in my daughter and she loves to learn Chinese.

My boy is in K2 this year, attending classes on Sunday. Berries has 2 tests in K1, one in May, one in late Nov. My girl, who is P1 this year(not attending Berries) did not have tests when she was in K2, not sure whether it is because she missed the tests. She was sick and did not attend 2 classes.

It is great that your daughter has developed a love in Chinese, I think she is the type who likes to study My girl is also in P1, she loves to read Chinese story books. I have to thank Berries for building a strong foundation in Chinese for her, she is able to read quite fluently. Check out my blog for some of the Chinese books that she loves :

My younger boy is the type who does not like to study, always dreaming in class. That is why I am so surprised that he can actually learn Chinese from Berries. Berries teachers use games and real objects to effectively make kids pay attention to learn the words. He also does not mind reading his Berries lessons once everyday.
