The maths percentage homework was for the June Holidays. The usual Maths hw are the worksheets. The science was worksheet style with questions that she needs to answer based on the research. The current Maths assignment was on charting their daily in-take of food (carbo, protein etc). Not sure what the deliverables are though. It was through conversation at dinner that i found out, when she mentioned she is taking in too much "protein" based on daily dietary recommendations. I don’t really check on her hw unless she needs some help. Not much hw though. Maybe she finishes them in school during free periods. Understand that hw are usually OTOT - meaning own time own target! Hours are long in SOTA. Ends at about 5pm daily.[/quote]

Lol, Dadeda! Nah, don't think VA would be the easiest! Don't think any of them are that easy at their level. Does your child enjoy sch despite the long hours? Any regrets going to SOTA?

My DD loves her school, though not all her teachers. Personally, I like the kind of exposure and the type of hw they have been assigned. It is more useful in our daily lives and the skills learned are more relevant to working life (like research, reading of charts, doing presentation). Think it is good to practise this from young. Also, there is a lot of linkages in the humanities subject. Like how volcano eruptions (geography) leads to growth of ancient civilization around the area (history) and the evolution of trade (economics). Quite different from the Geo and History that my elder DS did, which was very solo and facts based.

Wait till they go to uni, they will find it even easier to ease into uni life because of the way they teach and study.

Hi Shinobi, your child not in SOTA yet? You are a regular here and I thot your DC already in this school.

Dadeda, any art form has their level of difficulties. Anyway, all artform study the same subjects (junior level) so academically they are all the same. It's their artform aka CCA that takes up the hours and apparently Dance is the longest compared to the rest. VA has their fair share of gallery setting, exhibition outside school hours.


Both my children are in SOTA and we have never regretted our decision. I think it is still the best school if you have children with talents that they want to pursue and at the same time receive a good and rounded education.

Look at it this way, if IB ain't good why are there more and more schools going the IBDP route?
