2013 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

Chinese oral topic today - recess time.
Conversation - what you do during free time. -
Today's topic sounds easier to relate to, balletmum.

Any feedback from your DD? -

It is some comfort. My ds and his friend also says class party preparations for first day EL Oral. How would most p6 know about home econs class, esp boys?
My ds also said it was a class party preparations. So glad to read this. -
For Eng oral, DD was okay with reading and picture discussion. She learnt from her lesson yesterday not to repeat the content for conversation (as in different from the picture) - this time she talked about how a P3 girl helped her during her first day of school in P1. Hope she’s correct. But she said she stammered a lot during conversation.
The thing abt conversation - it’s really not fair especially if you have to cook up a story there and then - it’s not testing abt oral anymore - it’s about quick wittedness to think of an idea or story to talk abt.
And to make matters worse, a few planes flew past and she said the teachers were straining their ears to listen to her. -

It's actually my friend's DS topic. My girl is having eng today. Her DS says its relatively ok. Recess topic is very common, practise many times over the years. Its in the standard operational manual (oral sample book).Today's topic sounds easier to relate to, balletmum.

Actually there is also advantage of prelims closer to PSLE. What yr ds learn still lingering in their memory. Now, dd a bit relaxed after the prelims - got to restart her engine again.Wuaah, envy! :please: Verysuperkiasu, zeemimi & ngl2010! Not only have all your DCs' schools completed their prelims, they've also gotten all their results! :salute: I'm impressed. At least now all of your DCs can really concentrate & just look forward to working towards the REAL thing. For the parents it is good to already know where our kids stand at this juncture.
DD's sch finished oral exams last month. Till today, not even a whisper of any results or how they did.
It doesn't really matter now since PSLE oral is done and over with.
LC exams coming Monday and all written exams same as icy_mama's DD's school.. 26th August. -
heaved a sigh of relief when I heard about CL topic. like balletmum said, something everyone would’ve practiced before.
Just so glad it’s over! my DS prelim only starts on Tues next week. -
balletmum:
Today's both CL and EL conversation seemed easier.Chinese oral topic today - recess time.
Conversation - what you do during free time.
My DS also stammered during EL picture discussion, so it is common during PSLE examination, not to worry too much. -
Verysuperkiasu:
The conversation portion is a bit tricky if the child does not hv any related experience. Really no choice but to make up sth to talk about. The thing abt conversation - it's really not fair especially if you have to cook up a story there and then - it's not testing abt oral anymore - it's about quick wittedness to think of an idea or story to talk abt.
For ytd EL conversation - this is exactly what ah boy did - made up a tale. when asked: Have you done sth special for anyone?
Seems like the crux is Sth Special - same for ytd CL conversation. -

I am so relieved reading this too. My DS also said it was preparing for a party. I think boys may interpret as party. My DS was very clear it was not a baking class - hahahhah. He was challenging those who interpreted it that way :rotflmao: .
Todays picture was easy to interpret and question was - what do you and your friends do during recess. Quite a lot to talk about
.
Glad the orals are over. We have our Prelims from 20th Aug. So now have to focus back to writing skills .
