Was jus chatting with my kids about tcm and hashima, the frog UTERUS

After reading your post, I googled for more info, found in Wikipedia

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasma

Although not exactly is the frog uterus, but close to that, equally gross :yikes: ... and It says:-- \"Young children are however not recommended to take it, as the high contents of hormones might cause puberty to begin early.\" :yikes:

Some time ago, the ST runs an article on Jurong Frog Farm. After I know what snow jelly is made from, I do not eat or let my boys take them anymore :yikes:

Today or ytd ST talks about just delivered mums eating their own placenta
My mum likes to boil this hasma 糖水 for us, it's almost a weekly thing, faintz :faint: , I better ask her to stop making this dish. Gosh, I ate so much already!! :nailbite:

The placenta, I read also, wonder how is the process of making it, is it safe and free of contamination? (Somehow it reminds me of cannibalism :yikes: eating own \"flesh\" ) is HSA exercising any control or issuing any guidelines pertaining this placenta consumption?

It is not very different from taking sheep placenta pills.

It is not a new thing. I knew about it before I had my first child. Apparently it is esp good for those prone to post partum depression. I also know women who take it for beauty (yes, others’ placenta).

You can get some herbal shops to prepare it for you. ( but I don’t know which ones, so don’t ask me) One way to prepare it is to steam with ginger and wine, dry it very well, then grind into powder.

Do you mean it is HUMAN placenta? Years ago I read about those placenta trades in hospital in Guangzhou. Do you mean there are human placenta for consumption in Singapore? :yikes:

but you don't eat birds nest from all types of birds...only specifically ONE bird.
birds nest is optional...after i take birds nest, my appetite increases terribly.
as for hashima, it is also optional...a nice dessert though.

but eating OWN placenta is disgusting to me.
imagine washing it and then turning it into pills to be eaten again...a bit :siao:

                      😆

I know what it is. scary.... But I value it's medicinal benefits. My mum is so kind to deal with it on our behalf so I still get to drink the soup.
