All About Choosing Piano Schools And Teachers
-
Hi, seimpi is good on note reading as the class actually emphasis on that. However as it is group lesson, the teacher can only focus on note reading and not the counting. I suppose your girl is still on book one, so try to count with her as she practises at home.
If you prefer the ex teacher, try to get her contact and see if she teaches 1-1. If not you might want to look for a teacher to coach her on 1-1 as she is already 4 and she has group lessons in NAFA kindergarden. From what i see, NAFA kindergarden will not be fast enough as it is group lesson.
Hope this helps

Hi Mandie,
My daughter is also in the same school as yours. She will be turning 4 next month..hehe. Your daughter is in the morning or afternoon session?? Might turn out to be classmates..
I am in the same position as u. Felt so helpless.. -
Thank you, pianojazzy. Do you still have slot for my daughter? Not now but from Jan onwards (her current class end on Dec) Prefer weekend, if not, weekday evening. If so, could you PM me the details? If not, could you recomend me other teachers? I stay near Bedok Camp. Thanks a lot!

She was in morning class. But I have withdrawn her already, last frinday is her last day there. Too expensive  Because on top of the school fee, i still need to top up with music, art class and language classes, so I decided to shift her to a nearby kindy starting next year. It took me some time to convince her because she loves her class teachers and friends. But now she is fine....I felt guilty to change her school because of money, but this is real life

A few month ago, when we talked about the NAFA piano course audition, you give me a lot of courage, but unfotunately, my girl fail the test. I feel upset really now.
The biggest issue for me is to find a good piano teacher. I don't know how I can find such a teacher.
I want my girl can finish her ABRSM testing before Primary 5, if can not, I'm afraid that she may give up the piano when she go in Primary 6, a very critical year for her future's study. So I like the education mould of NAFA, whose student can complete the whole couse during age 10~11.
You once mentioned that: If your child can't get through the audition, come back to me. I will recommend you another school which they have one teacher who trains like in nafa. He was actually head hunted by nafa but he refuse to leave the school. Or you can get other well know professors who teaches nafa diploma students.
I really need your help, pls pls... -
Hi Belle and Mandie, pmed you.
Ctct61t, emailed you. -
Thank you, pianojazzy. Got your pm. Will contact you in Dec.
One more thing, for 1:1, is the parent allowed to sit with the child? I have problem guiding her at home as I do not know music. And at her age, she usually doesnβt tell me what exatcly need to be done at home. -
i do allow parents to sit in. I also require them to keep a notebook which i will write down what to practise and homework every lesson.

Yah, it's truely a very good teaching method that will benifit children mostly.
I think the most important thing for a piano playing child is the support of parents under a good teacher with good teaching and practice method. -
Hi this is my first time posting here, I am looking for music class for my 3.5 yr old gal, she has been attending group music class at Seimpi, teacher is quite good but is leaving, (maybe the same teacher as Mandie's gal ?). Did contemplating whether I should let her do 1-1 music class instead, but worry that it might be too boring for her at this age.
Has anybody heard of this music school \"Edvox Music school\" or have attended the classes there before ? They are currently conducting group class \"Funtime Doreme Course\" which is for children aged from 3Β½ to 5 years old, would truly appreciate your comments.
Thanks
