Total vacancies for phase 2C had been revised to 50 (looks like somebody withdraw from 2B), and there are 46 people registered within 1KM, so only left 4 places for 30 plus ppl to fight for.

to those who were at the SJIJ orientation on saturday… what do you think? after the session and watching my son interact with the teachers and future classmates, i knew i had made the right decision about his choice of school.

well... what would you like to know?

some things i liked:

- they name classes after saints, not in ascending order (i.e. not primary 1 a, primary 1 b etc). they say this takes away the misconception that there are 'better classes'. all classes are equal

- they will keep the workbooks on premise instead of having the kids lug them up and down - to keep school bag weight down

- they have some interesting teaching methods for english (the name escapse me now!)

yes! thats the one. i get the sense that the school offers a more holistic approach to education rather than just focus on the academics.

Thanks Learningtobekiasu. I am trying to find out more about their 10-year Josephian Programme. I did some research but the idea still eludes me.


Re English, I thought they are using the SEED programme but apparently you should be more accurate since you just attended their orientation. They could have recently switched to STELLAR. I remember having read somewhere that most if not all primary schools will eventually be following the STELLAR programme within the next one or two yeras.

Glad to know that they pay attention to the weight of the children’s school bags.

I do get the impression that they adopt a hoslitic approach and emphasise on well-rounded education not to mention a wholesome and healthy environment that’s why I have decided to send my son there.

By the way, would you know what’s their niche in terms of CCAs? The school’s mission and vision?

The Stellar programme is by MOE, to be introduced to all primary schools from next year onwards, not something that SJI has come up with. You may want to see the link for more info

And SEED is not an English programme. It's more like an overall all-rounded approach to learning.
