mummy so kiasu:
I am also feeling the stress now. My girl didnt do well for her chinese. She is only scoring 59.5/100. How can i help her now

Too near PSLE now & languages take time to see results. Luckily it is still T score system, hope she does well in the rest of the subjects. My son is in Sec 1 now. His weakest subject is Chinese too. Luckily he is strong in Maths & Science.

Language is her worst subjects... Maths and science slightly better only. Just hope for miracle now.
beariecrystal3, you can check the part she lost her scores the most and improve that part.

But teacher did not return the paper yet, as they have not gone through the answer.
Hi, have any of your dc showed signs of stress and/or have broken down because of it?

Hi hi. I think you are a strong child so stress should not be in your vocabulary (mummies, please don't flame me šŸ¦† ). I believe you know when to stop to have some break.

          Jia you, Nightmares :rahrah:

Thank you. But sometimes in school I'll ut down my pen and go \"I don't want to do anything any more.\"
Everything is controlled by you yourself. You decide and you accept the consequences. If you want 280, you must work to get it. If you only put 60% effort and get 250, you need to accept it. :snuggles:

you should be able to find out which areas she is more weak through her daily school work. My DS is weak in vocab thus he couldn't understand the comprehension OE passage well.

Well technically, with social life , hormones AND the exams, kids have it much worse. IMO.

Wait till you grow up :rotflmao:

                  Jennifer:

One Maths worksheet n one Chinese worksheet. Very few pages type.

                  I wonder when when when

This is so different from elder boy's PSLE practice adopted by the sch. 4 years apart, vast difference.

Do you mean the homework is less now compared to 4 years ago?

                  Ya, since P5

I still remember elder boy's first day at P5 came back with comp writing. Everyday was homework homework homework. And he said he was stressed due to the volume of homework and we had to talk to the FT during the PTM.

Once the momentum set in, it became manageable and he did not show any sign of stress, not even during PSLE period.

Now the sch adopts a different approach. I do not know whether this is good but looking at the PSLE scores since 2009, I think the cohorts after 2009 did not do as well as 2009. Of course, each PSLE year is different and I am unlikely to be right to use different years T-score as a measurement of how well the sch has prepared its PSLE pupils.

You are not alone. Every child (and their parents and teachers) must be feeling the same way now. Just grit your teeth and get on with it.

Referring to your earlier question about stress, 'stress' is not a black/white sort of thing. Some stress is necessary or you would just be a spineless blob; on the other hand, too much stress is counter-productive. You have to learn how much stress you can take as it varies from person to person. To use my self as an example, I am not very good at taking stress, so I make sure I prepare in advance and pace myself whenever I have a major challenge ahead (not always exams, though I've taken a lot of those). My brother, on the other hand, leaves everything to the last minute as he needs high stress to make him get going, and he performs best under pressure. You must adjust your working style and pace to your own stress tolerance. Also, and I know some will disagree, you need to accept your own limitations - if you are a 250 student, working 24 hrs a day will not get you 280. Again, you must know yourself. All the best!

That's only measuring by PSLE score. Maybe the later cohorts enjoyed better mental health, were able to do more than just study, were overall more happy?
