My son is given a numeral and then he has to pick different notes with different counts which total up to the same as the numeral. Erm something like this: numeral given: 13. He has to pick 1 crotchet (1 x 1 note) + 2 semibreve (2 x 4 notes) + 1 minim ( 1 x 2 notes).

No, \"waiyean\" is not wrong either, bc yes, the question says \"Add a Note\", which should be ONE note. And if this was going to be marked by teacher, I would've gone thru it with more of a fine comb, but I just let him discover and play play lah. He actually does this literally \"for fun\". He would skip pages sometimes and just only do the Quizes or Revisions and Tests. He's only just turned 5yo anyway. And yeah, he only does 30min lessons - still way too long for his concentration level, I'm afraid, even though he's working on pieces that are like Gr 3 level on average.

My boy not like \"waiyean\"'s girl - can do 1hour lessons and 2hour practices.

As I understand from friends the MEP is a pretty interesting program which my son may be interested, I am letting him take the abrsm exam in the near future. .

It depends. If your child is more interested in Performing only, then MEP may bore him/her. But if the child is interested in broader aspects including lots of theory and history and composition, and aural too, then he can excel in MEP.

Yup, that's why I said he \"may\" be interested. So, the best would be to have the \"grade exam\" ready. A friend's son couldn't join MEP initially because he hadn't taken any exam. He started learning piano only in P5. Fortunately, he got to join MEP in sec 3 (or sec 2) upon taking his grade 5 exam. He just received a university scholarship for teaching music this year.
