Hi, any parents of P3 kids

May I know what are the components for the coming Oral exam? Understand that there should be a passage reading and Picture discussion for Chinese. For English, my girl is asked to write short write-ups for 3 topics. Does it mean they will be asked to talk about one of the topics and is there picture discussion or conversation for English?

        TIA.

Hi, i have a 3yr old gal. we are planning to buy another place in order to be nearer to my in law. location of the new place is very much depended on the future school location. read somewhere that Pei Hwa is going to move from the current location in another few yrs time. Is that true?

It will move to somewhere close to bukit timah primary in 2015 while it undergoes rebuilding and move back to current location in 2016. That is from my understanding.

freeeat2, so it’s just relocating temporary, not moving away from Toh Tuck area. if so we could continue our plan.

              thanks.

Hi I m also considering putting girl in PHPP… But I m currently staying in Sembawang… So i m not sure if it will be a crazy idea to still send her there…

Will like to find out if students are made to stay back often in school?
And will students CCA or make up classes be arranged like 2-3 hours after school??

                  Hi dreamsinsin

For P1-P2, they are currently having lessons in the afternoon. They need to be in school by 12:20 pm and lesson till 6:30 pm. Don’t think they need to go early unless they opted for CCAs, which are conducted on different days depending on the CCA your girl choose. I am not sure when the conversion to single session will start for PHPPS though. You may want to consider the distance she needs to spend on the road (with bad traffic in the evening) and if the time spent is worthwhile.

Hi Yellowbelt thanks for your replies…

quite in dilemma since first child and neighbourhood school may means either parent volunteer (which needs registration soon) or depending on luck… whereas PHPP is alumni and like the fact that they are doing higher chinese… nevertheless having graduated so long ago, the current culture is definitely different. Are the school very academic driven in your opinion? And what about focus on moral values, cca, any much fun of it? Like camps, excursions, charity etc? 😛

In my opinion, the school is very academic driven, not sure if the approach will change when there is a change in leadership (principal), which is likely by the time your child enters. In my opinion, as a lot of students do well in exams, the good point is that the kids may tend to push themselves to stay competitive. On the other hand, they may be demoralised. I feel you will be in a better position to gauge the suitability of your own kid in a competitive school.

As for moral values, I think it is still the most important for parents to instill that in our own children, can’t depend on the teachers or school to be responsible for that component. I think at least most of the teachers who have taught my two children for the past years are reasonably good, whether they are the best teachers in teaching or not, at least I feel that they do not put down the students.

As for fun, I guess nowadays, all school do conduct various activities, camps, excursions, charity events, even overseas excursion trips.

Above will be my point of view, other parents may or may not agree.

Another thing to add on, CCA is not compulsory in this school. So, you decide how active you want your child to be in school.
