      Hi all

Just wanted to highlight some of the findings after using the 2 dictionaries.

I personally prefer Creative's (in terms of word search) because

      1) when I keyed in the hanyu pinyin of a 词, eg. \"shafa\" (沙发), Creative can show me the word 沙发. As for Besta, when I keyed in \"shafa\" and press enter, the HYPY which I've keyed in just blanked off. I had to key in \"sha\" first, find the chinese word and then key in \"fa\" again to get the full 沙发.

      2) then I tried to key in the first letter of each word. I tried \"ddzz\". Creative gave me 2 choices : 跌跌撞撞 & 端端正正. Besta only gave me 跌跌撞撞.

      3) the pronunciation of the words by Creative is slower and clearer

      4) the font used in Besta although can be enlarged, I find that the font in Creative is actually easier to read

My girl told me that her teacher said Besta is better, so when I told her I find that Creative is better, she said \"No, my teacher said Besta is better !\"

I then showed her my findings (per above) and she agreed that she would prefer to use Creative.

I think it is a good thing that I bought both as I mentioned earlier that 各有千秋, so I am able to try out for myself which is better in terms of searching for words (cos don't want to waste too much looking for words during exam). But I love the 笔顺 function in Besta as it is really useful.

Maybe I am missing something in Besta or I do not know how to use Besta properly. But the above findings are based on my ease of use of the 2 dictionaries to the best of my knowledge 😄

Haha…you know my girl likes both dictionaries. Now she brings both dictionaries to school. Both kids told me that most of their classmates are using Besta in class.

Ya lor, I think Besta is more popular with the children.

Sigh… at least your children can tell you which model their classmates are using. When I ask my girl, she said she don’t know.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, so primary school kids no longer use the hardcopy Chinese dictionary nowadays?

There is an optional item english dictionary for P3 kids in the book list. Yes, those super thick and heavy dictionary but not the chinese electronic dictionary. I bought the english dictionary for my girl last year. It was never bought to school and became my reference book to help my girl in her english. I was suprised when the kids were able to use the chinese electronic dictionary in P3 and I think I am one of the last person knowing it. I bought it at second half of P3 when most kids bought it begining of the year. The electronic dictionary is even lighter than our handphone. Kids are sure very fortunate now. I would not want my kids to bring the thick and heavy ones to school. Their present weight of their school bag is heavy enough.

I was given a visitor pass when I went to school general office. Maybe it is under Popular so it is open to public? I also went to the bookshop last year once without any pass given.
