I sign up to KS parents website this morning because I am so angry. Yesterday I got a call from some tout on my mobile phone, asked me to WITHDRAW my son from his English tuition centre and to JOIN I CAN READ tuition centre instead.


When I said I don’t want to do that, they asked me for my email address and contact details! Said they want to give me S$100? Do you think I am so dumb? I called CASE about this, they said it could be phishing, like that time happened to DBS Customers!

The tout sounds like a young kid. Dunno anything about my son, what class he is in, etc. JUST WANT MY PERSONAL DETAILS!

So sorry to hear about what's happened to you. At I Can Read, we are handling incoming calls from parents and responding only to parents' enquries from the affected centres (TIONG BAHRU, CHOA CHU KANG, TAMPINES, WOODLANDS, JURONG EAST, PARKWAY, GOLDHILL) where the franchise
ceased on 20 September.

We would like to clarify that we are not offering S$100 to anyone as this is not in line with our company policy. We are, however, offering a discount of SGD150 for all continuing students, as a token of appreciation for their support of I Can Read.

If your child is attending I Can Read at one of the affected centres, please kindly give our Ms Seah a call at tel: 64841271

All affected students will be transferred to our five, new I Can Read Centres at Goldhill, Marine Parade Central, Choa Chu Kang, Jurong East, Woodlands, Harbourfront (existing) or the nearest, convenient I Can Read Centres. The class schedule will remain the same day and same time for students.

Once again, we do sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or disruption caused by these terminated franchises.

Is Teacher Pearl going over? Can i enroll my boy to continue for teacher Pearl class?

I think I have this teacher too. Don't know exactly because my mother in law will send my boy for me. Long hair and tall? But my boy no improvement after long time. He went for some test, teacher say ok but the tester say he cannot do it. So fail :slapshead:

What happened to teacher? I didn't get any call...

I share somewhat same sentiments… Called centre this morning and my son’s teacher just left yesterday when she has class with my son today!!! How can such thing happen? She’s a teacher and just leave like that without giving thoughts to the students!!! It’s incomprehensible . I work also must give one more notice to my boss and I’m just a regular worker. A teacher is suppose to have passion and at least some responsibility ??? Whatever change the company has got nothing to do with me. Why are we the ones that suffer? Left me to believe she must have some better deals elsewhere. So mad so mad!!!

Dear Ajymum, glad to hear that your girl is now more advanced than anyone of her age after going through the I Can Read program, is there any way to contact you directly so that you can understand the difference when it comes to our programs? Warmest regards.

I got to know about this discussion in this forum when I googled for any 'news' after I received a rude shock when I sent my child for lesson at the ex-ICR parkway one weekend ago.

I just want to share my own experience in this episode.

The old ICR school logo is covered and i'm told that it is henceforth now a new school. The staff mentioned that I should have already received an email or letter indicating the change, however, it never reached me.

I was told that they have stopped their franchisee license with ICR and is no longer associated with ICR, and that all the teachers are staying with the new school.

At that point, I had not made any decision to stay with the new school or to transfer to other ICR branch. Hence I was quite surprised to see my child after class with a new bag bearing the new school logo, free pencil case and new lesson materials.

Just over the weekend when I send my child to class, I was again surprised to know that there is a change of teacher. And no reason was provided. First , I was made to believe that things are as per normal, and teachers are staying with the new school. And out of a sudden, thing are not as usual.

My objective of sending my child to ICR is that I believe in their system and have seen benefits of it in my child whom have been attending ICR program since pre-school.

With this new school and untested programme, I've since decided to transfer my child to the nearest ICR branch which I believe will work best for my child.

I've also spoken to ICR HQ and they have provided me good assistance in the transfer.

Good luck to all mummies. I hope our child can have a smooth transition and getting their lessons back on track.
