Honey:
Mummies, please take note or you may have already read either thr' letter from VP or in the news that the school will be temp relocated for 2 years (2011 - 2012) to the a holding school (former Victoria School at Kallang Bahru)? Humm... not so convenient leh ...
Hi, I share your concern. Lat year on last school day, one lady was collecting signatures in front of the Lor 1 side gate, for appealing to the school management on:
1. special school bus arrangement, e.g. 'express' school bus.
2. to delay arrival time.
Reasons: Firstly, majority pupils stay nearby the school, 'express' school bus will help lots of them cut down the traveling time. Secondly, traffic is very congested over there (my hubby works somewhere around, so I know), to delay arrival time will give pupils more sleeping time (I always think sufficient rest is very important to children). It would be too bad if they get up early then sleep on the class. :x
If we are not getting any satisfactory arrangement from the school, anyone interested to form a small group to hire a private van? or a taxi? Starting point: somewhere nearby the current campus? -
Hi my Dd is in P3. Received a letter abt conversational Chinese/Malay Prgramme (CCM). Can anyone advise on this? How does it help the child besides knowing another language? Will she be tested on this or does it help her in her entry to Sec? really know nothing abt itโฆ
Tks -
Hi Mummies,
Need your advice on CHIJ TP primary.
I am a former student...planning to register my daughter there this year. Is it stressful ? I mean, every school is stressful now, but any 'honeymoon' period at P1 ? Please advise.
Thanks

My dd in P2 this year. Last year, P1 had the official SA2 (end-of-year) examination which is recorded in the report book. They had a mid-year test for all subjects which is not recorded but the parents get to meet the form teachers to talk about her academic and behavioural performance after that.
-
Hi hesiew,
So P1 has SA2 and a mid year test ?
Any CA1 and does the SA2 carry 100% ? Please advise. Thanks
My son is in P4 this year...he was allowed to use green pen last year for corrections. His teachers said the kids can start using pen only if the handwriting is consistently neat for the 1st term. -
SA2 carry 90 to 100% of the overall. I recall 5~10% marks for some subjects come from daily assessment test. No CA1, SA1 and CA2, it will be an easy year. You should be inform of it during the orientation for parents or in the studentโs booklet.

Hi hesiew,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Appreciate
So, there is no CA1 or SA1/2 in P1...'honeymoon stage' in P1.
But there are daily tests.
Understand from a friend that there will be streaming from P2 onwards.
At least I know what to expect when my gal goes to P1 next yr. The main task is to register
: and get a confirmation first.
:thankyou: -
Hi Mummies,
Can anyone be kind to recommend any assessment books for Eng ?
Still worried about not having a textbook
BTW, how are the teachers in IJ Toa Payoh ? -
janet_lee88:
It is disconcerting without a textbook. However, the teachers will give handouts to learn (e.g. singular-plural, present tense past tense, animals & their movement, young and sounds) over the next few months.Hi Mummies,

EPH assessment books for English seem quite good as they have different books catering to different levels of difficulty. Choose a suitable assessment book on Grammar and Vocab, another book on comprehension based on your dd's capability. or you could buy a 4 in 1 assessment book which has everything in there. I'd bought one for my dd in P1 last year and I find them not as challenging as those separate books focusing on the different aspects of English. But it was sufficient for its purpose esp for P1. -

I'm also very stressed by this issue too. Every morning I send my 4 kiddos to school.. 2 in IJ and 2 in Maris Stella.. I can't imagine next year how I'm gonna to cope as eldest is still in the old site since she's in Sec. Even if i arrange school bus for my 2nd gal in the morning, I guess transport cost will increase as she stays back at least 3 or 4 times per week. Ballet lessons already take up 2 times a week.. I can imagine how tired she will be.. at this moment, I try not to think about next yr..
