I was given a visitor pass when I went to school general office. Maybe it is under Popular so it is open to public? I also went to the bookshop last year once without any pass given.

Ya lor, I think Besta is more popular with the children.

Personally, I felt that besta is more user friendly. I can use it immediately without referring to the instruction guide (no patience for that) Meanwhile for creative, I had some problem as ds couldn't figure out how to make it sound the words. I gave up after awhile..... But it sure looks cool.

 Reminds me of the security guard in one of Jack Neo's movies where he don't allow fire engine to park in some reserved lots though it's on fire.

But I agree there is inconsistency. Or maybe depending on when you are going (eg. they are very lax during the school hols due to books buying period).

There are no enrichment courses for pre-primary. In fact there isn’t any entry test done so nothing to prepare your kid for.

MBS and I think with the other primary schools do not have anything like that, that is run by the school.

However if you are asking if there are an P1 preparation course run by external vendors. Yes, there are. Personally, I feel that preparation for P1 should start \"intensively\" during K2. I personally have sent my P2 now to BC for preparation for P1 program before he enters P1. My personal on some of the checklist on the things kid should know before P1 is as follows :
                  1) HYPY by end K2 (It's not good to start HYPY too early as they become reliant and ignore the chinese characters). In our case, the school only introduce in term 3 K2 and that works fine. Note that during term 1 and 2 of P1 is usually focus on HYPY. But chinese character is important as the focus gets stronger after that.
                  2) Ability to read. If the child has the ability to read, the child is \"well-prepared\" for P1. But do acknowledge that depending on how KS you want to get, some kids in my girl's previous P1 class was able to write \"mini compo\" 8 sentences in perfect grammar while alot of kids struggle. So it's really subjective
                  3) For maths, feel that it's a repetition of what they learn in K2.

If your current childcare actually prepares the child in such area, your child should be fine.

It's good to prepare the kids but on the other, I feel that \"don't overprepare\" as I think it's a fine line between \"being good\" and \"being bored since you already know everything\".

Overpreparing is a bad idea. Kids get bored! I think if the child reads and enjoys learning, knows how to behave in a social situation, knows when to ask for help, it would be enough!

Thanks for sharing. You are right! I am pretty concern if I am overprepared my dd. most of gf's children are not attending enrichment course. actually utd I have only arranged her for mindchamps 'reading and writing' (actually phonics focus only) and abacus. to my friend is a 'wow' thingy... hope that I did not overdo it. 😉

currently i tot since mindchamps programme is coming to an end, probably should prepare her for chinese just in case, she enter in MBS which has higher chinese.

have you prepared your children that much? i tink i am not being KS....
