DS has been playing games on phone & tablet since early morning today.

Yesterday, once he got back...ask for his own Facebook saying he is the ONLY lame one in class not having it. I said no cos you are not 13 yet.
Then asked for smart phone cos he is using a very basic & cheap phone now.
Told him we will think about it....cos worried he will be addicted to games & of his safety if he plays with his phone while walking on the road, etc.

Has anyone reward DC with smart phones for their hard work?

No, my DD don't have a phone nor Facebook or any social network account except for email as she needed to use for school. She said she don't need those as she think its not that important eventhough all her friends got one. And not that we don't reward her but she herself refused to have one. We need to justify with her why we are giving/buying her things otherwise she don't want you to buy her anything unless needed. She will tell us not to waste money.

Hi Candy08,
Your DD really very different....how I wish my boys are like that. Before PSLE, DS asked me for a iphone 5S....I said NO! After his PSLE yesterday, he asked for at least a iphone 4....I said NO!
Hi Shan,
Yeah, she is different. Sometimes I wonder too...ha ha ha! She told us if we gonna give her phone next year no need to buy she can use either his father iPhone 3 or even my old LG (not a smartphone, just call n SmS) since its not being use but still in good condition. Wah...we can save money. She don't care what's the latest gadget/fashion around her as long you get her the books that she like she is satisfied. πŸ˜„

Ya, we did. Not so much of a reward but as a necessity.
Dd didn't ask for it but we feel it is essential for her for the purpose of
-keeping track of the bus arrival time (super accurate),
-google to get info related to schoolwork,
-twitter esp with her cca kakis for notices and discussions,
-whatsapp as they can photoshot Q&A for schoolwork discussion, etc.

However, we did warn her that we will confiscate the phone if we caught her using it for other purposes while doing her homework. She doesn't have much opportunity to use the hp in school since there are rules.
That makes her 'no government control' time on her bus/mrt journey home only. i don't see her using it while walking/crossing on the road.
