my child is p4 too. her chinese is not dat strong but she can’t go for stretch prog. and now her science result is sliding too. Since P3, i dun see any printed science notes frm the teacher. The science jotter notebook, which she is using to copy notes frm the whiteboard, is pathetic. It’s not sufficient and detail enuf to score in paper. She lack of the analytical thinking skill and answering techniques. Both, i thk, are not sufficient provided in the class. which pondered me if i should send her to tuition at this stage.

Did you try to let her read science guide? Eg. Ultimate science guide published by EPH.

To help with answering techniques, one parent suggested Oxford Primary Essentials Science, feedback that in it explain how to answer.

I'm not against tuition, just making some suggestions in case you are not aware of the science materials available.

Have you spoken to your child's science tr?

Thk for the books recommendation. I hv both at home. Her science concept is there but she always penalize because of the incorrect phrasing of the answers. I did speak to her science teacher.

On stretch I think ds is ok. So far the only stretch he got was for chinese and whole class kena for a term or two. Afterward no more.

On science I am also mystified. He shared before his tutor teaches a lot of stuff but I dont see any notes, just worksheets that are beyond me. I dont find any sci text or guides. I have been relying on those sci guides to help him along and also been asking him to use those to read up. Hope the sch can give more guidance as to the ‘scientific english’ that should be used.
