She explain that if the hole is much bigger than the arm, then they must guard their modesty against any unwanted exposure. That is why she said sleeveless uniform is not practical.

I tailor-made all the girls' uniforms to ensure the armpit holes are the right size. I think it is worth it, since it is a dress, and each tailor made dress costs $25. The ones you buy off the shelf cost $14. I guess spending $11 is worth it, since you get to see the girls looking good everyday.

May I know which tailor you engage? Is it the same uniform supplier company? πŸ˜„

Our weather is too hot to have the jacket as part of the uniform. Most pri school kids don't bother with the jackets at all unless they take the school bus early in the morning which can be a little chilly. However, the secondary school girls are a different breed. They can wear it the whole day. Maybe they are more conscious of exposing the armpits πŸ™‚

Oops, only saw this now. Yes, you get the same tailor that sews the school uniform. Kah Huat at Commonwealth.

Thinking of sending my daughter there, but understand that it is an independent school, the fees are higher. Can someone share how much I would have to pay per month? Also, any other miscellaneous fees on top of that? Or donations to make? Any info would help. Many thanks !

Hi, are you looking to send your daughter to the primary or sec school? The sec school fees are about $200-$300 per month. There are some other costs which include overseas trips and competition trips which parents will have to pay. However, there are need-based bursaries and merit-based scholarships available. Check out SCGS website. Primary school fees are the same as any other pri school.

                  Hope this helps.

Depending on the trips. Some trips are not compulsory to go. Most of the time, school will subsidise. I can't speak for all CCAs. BTW, at this age, most of the trips are paid co-paid by parents, even for State representatives. Different sports/CCA can be different, but it is the same across all schools. Some schools do pay on behalf of the parents. Few though.

Thanks to 2pppammm for your quick response. I am looking at sec sch. The fees are only $200 plus now, but I can imagine it going up to $400 in like a couple of years! It’s really a lot compared to the normal schools. And that’s just fees. Surely there are stuff to purchase, be it books, notes, fund raising … sigh!
