Hi, Im interested to apply for my son to Maris Stella High (Sec 1). Anyone here can share your opinion about this school? Thanks.
-
It is a good school and im very happy with the choice
Abit expensive and im still unconvinced about the need for a mac book -
Can you share what you mean by ‘expensive’?
-
Expensive - mac bk, 5sets of singlets, socks, house tshirt, friday tshirt, class tshir
Im still very happy with the school. -
I am considering Maris Stella for my DS. Our concern is that DS will spend a lot of time playing games on his Mac bk at home cos now he dun have his own notebook, PC, etc.
Appreciate if anyone can share about discipline, teachers, etc.
Thanks in advance! -
Thanks beepo, ive attended the open house last sat and am quite impressed by a sec 1 boy who tour us around the sch and also the boys in science lab and IT dept. They are friendly and seem happy with what they are doing. But I also saw a few boys who were talking loudly in hokkien which worries me abit. Can u share your opinion about the boys in the school?
My boy scored 241 in psle and is qualified to apply for schools with higher cut off point but besides academic performance, im also very concern about character developement. I prefer Maris Stella than 2 other schools that ive visited is because I find the boys there are more outspoken than those in co-ed school. What’s your view? Thanks. -
computer games and boys . . .(and that expensive mac book)
i have not won that fight.
Perhaps when the O levels come around, the boy will settle down and study. -
Dear Orange7,
Every school will have their cluster of students behaving badly. And secondary school is the time of their life when they are growing up and adjusting to all kinds of influences and an expanded freedom as a teenager.
With score 241, there are many good schools out there to choose from. You have a small luxury of choosing schools with that extra special bit like character development, great CCAs, good discipline, positive teachers etc etc.
Any school with students who are confident and they get out there to engage with the world is a good school to me. So far, CHIJ TP, Chung Cheng High and MSHS fall into this category (limited tour experience)
O yeah. . . at this stage, your child would also have his opinion about what school he prefers. -
My son prefers co-ed since he is from co-ed primary sch so he choose Chung Chung Main & Nan Chiau as 1st & 2nd choice. He likes Maris Stella too but that will be his 3rd choice.
Personally i prefers boys sch as i find the student are more outspoken and confident. Will try to talk to my boy again.
Thanks for your advices.
