Actually, if you scroll back, I was the one who suggested MOE set a criteria of making the child take up citizenship before starting GEP classes. LoL.
However, I do support the argument that some forumers raised earlier. To take up citizenship if a foreign student is admitted to gep.

This child at P1 memorized her entire class index numbers out of boredom and topped both her class and standard each year.
I understand your point. For such students who are so called not entirely strong in the testing of the 2 subjects, there exists other opportunities for them which are not spelt out and maybe by design. Are your children in GEP now?
I mean, like you, we parents just want the best for our kids. It is not as if I planned for this. I just had to take it upon myself to investigate more about GEP by coming here even though she and me don't want it. Along the way, I noticed the anomaly for citizens. It's just so me to ask these weird questions bah...... -

Probably an added feather in the cap - your resume will look nicer with a GEP status, depending on the type of jobs you want in future. You can't blame parents for wanting the best for their child. You would too, at different stages

GEP is not a prize, just a tool for evaluation, like a weighing machine that tells you how heavy you are
Like your weight, there is nothing glorious or embarrassing to how much you weight, it is just who you are -

We should teach our child to be what they want to be, achieve what they want to achieve, no person should be judge by a single paper or words on a piece of paper. Their future is what they go out and make it to be. Don't live by rules set by others, set your own goals and go make it happen!

I like this analogy!
Teacher told dd2 that she missed out 1 question in her paper yesterday. She's kind of demoralized and asked me what if she didn't do well in her SA. I told her I'm happy with her positive learning attitude. And her result is not my measurement of her worth.
My measurement is fillial piety!
