Le Cafe (Middle Rd) - better call them beforehand and reserve otherwise you risk going home empty handed. There's ltd quantity for each day so once they've sold out, that's it. And nearer CNY they stop baking altogether cos too many orders to fulfill. There's a outlet at Veerasamy Rd and another at Cambridge Rd.
Sorry, very blur as to the name, but Le Cafe sounds right. Have tried the one at Cambridge Road....it was nice. Didn't know it is part of network.

But also true that to each their own taste.

          Hi hquek,

Are you taking about this one http://www.lecafe.com.sg/ at Middle Road, diagonally opposite Peace Centre??

Wah, their rum ball cake is damn shiok

Apparently, they are v well known. Heard must place orders in advance.

YEs, that's the one. Like their bean curd tart.[/quote]

But their rum ball ... OMG ... since I am a sucker for cakes ... this one ... and to think that I was first introduced to them when someone gave them to me in one of the hm gatherings we had like just 4 or 5yrs ago. How could I not have met these yummy cakes earlier in life ???? 😒 😒 πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜„

The biggest irony is that I used to work ard the area many many years ago.

okie ... will try their pineapple tarts ... hopefully not too late to order πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„

The tarts there are known as \"golf balls\" cos they're big. The ratio of pastry to pineapple paste is 1:10! Haha! So be prepared for an overdose of pineapple jam. To be honest, not to everyone's liking.
That's right - I didn't like Le Cafe golf balls pineapples tarts as i feel there's too much pineapple fillings. But some friends who are \"pineapple\" people...love it!
