So envious of all your DCs. My dd is soooo unfortunate. :sad:

She has missed everything just days after the last paper......just went for another X-ray and confirmed a fracture (previous X-ray was not conclusive enough) & she has to continue to be in cast. Will have to attend prize giving & collect PSLE results in clutches.
Just hope her results can cheer her up & be able to go for our long ago planned trip in Dec.

Wishing her speedy recover!

Btw, have you read the booklets? One is for the child and one for us. I read DS's booklet. It is interesting on how his friends perceived him. We never sit in our children's class and see how the children interact with each other so it is interesting to read how they think of each other. Read read. Some of it is eye-opening

Thank you, mother777. Read the recommendations here, so thought to get a copy for DD2 next year and year after as well, since we already have OnSponge. I found the information I needed from a PM from a kind mom rather promptly (right after I posted). She too doesn't sleep early I suppose. :evil: Just like me.

I read some recommendations here on Get Me Thinking math books but cannot locate the posts now. I wish to get them for my DD2 to work on, but was unable to find them in Popular Bookstores.


Can anyone share where to get these books?

You can get it fr visible math. They do not deliver for orders less than 30. For individual bk, you have to go to their centres to purchase.

I have these. Again, decided to purchase this after reading recommendations from this thread. :love:

Her math is ok I guess for now. Okay because, she requires little help from me but she performs fine. Not just for Math, but for most of her workload. She only comes to me when she is really stuck or when she is really lazy (to think/to do). :rant: Because DD2 is entirely a different type of learner from her jie jie, the resources for DD2 has to be varied to complement her learning style and her abilities.

I have many good resources but even after usage of these materials with both girls, the response and the results are still stark different... because each child is different.

The booklets are from HPB. The A4 size is for students. The A5 size is for parents. I found the tips in the booklets quite useful such as how to deal with bullying in sec school. I am grateful that govt gave us something to prepare for sec school for inexperienced parents like me

dd's school organised sports events as competition for all p6 classes. they have captain ball, basketball, frisbee, soccer, floorball etc. so their time are mostly spent outdoors. last week, they had learning journey to little india. following week, to the yog museum. not a dull moment at all. so far, no homework. she looked forward to every day at school. she's gonna miss her friends terribly.

icy_mama, finally DS got sports events competition. Yay! Baseball, captain ball and soccer. DS's school must have read your post and then they :idea: (yup. DS's school reads KSP )

I think the school put effort in making these 7 weeks full of activities. They try to keep the children busy with CIP, learning journey, making scrapbook, plan for year end book, learn zoomba (although DS's class missed it due to CIP), plan for year end fund raising, etc.

buds, if your DD2 is strong in Maths, I think just let her do top school past year papers would be enough. I found Maths assessment books are rather boring. The top school past year papers give more variety in the type of challenging questions.

She's just ok babe. Strong, I don't think so. :oops: Some assessment books give sufficient insights going by topic which can help her (and myself) to single out or zoom in on the areas that requires more looking into before the class drifts off to the next topic.


Top school papers offer a great stretch, I agree. However because the syllabus in top schools seem to move faster than neighbourhood schools like where she's in, it sometimes (esp when we first started on top sch papers) distracted her a bit. But she would still attempt them nevertheless, without (that much) complains.

She is in HA class and workload is heavy. She can manage a good pass playing on her consistency for most of the better times. On and off when she's up for it, we go for that little stretch. Bit by bit. As and when. But this is possible only because she is a more conscientious learner, to which I am already pretty happy with. :love:
