Majority of the kids in the student care are from NYPS - P1 to P6. There are a few from other schools. Probably siblings in NYPS or children from houses around the school. Those will come via school buses.

During the 1st 3 days of P1, there will PVs helping to escort the kids to the meeting point. Teachers from the centre will meet them there & escort them back to the centre. After that, the kids are told to go to the meeting point themselves. The centre teachers will 'take attendance' at the meeting point.

Yes, my son is able to go to/fro the student care by himself. πŸ˜„

        Hi mickeyhmh,

I think this will be a good arrangement for students. It's just that I got 3 kids, that's mean I will need to pay about $1020 per month. And if I put them to after schoolcare, then I wont need a maid. But by the time I reach home, I might have to struggle with cooking & housework.. :!:

Not sure when comes to Primary school, should parents stay at home to guide them? I m thinking if my kids will need some home support.

          Hi i3mum

I also have 3 kids. Didi & meimei will be joining their brother in 2013. Right now, only have to worry about 1 as 2 younger ones are taken care by my parents.

I do minimal cooking - simple things like steam fish, soups (with thermal pot), steam brocolli, etc. Else I get mom to cook more during weekend & freeze them for daily dinner. Close 1 eye when it comes to housework.

I guess for me, it helps that hubby is working freelance, so his hours are a bit more flexible. He helps with the cooking & housework too. If nec, I would consider getting part-time cleaners.

Guidance - depends on the kids. I find DS1 is doing OK with school work & enrichments. Student care does give some support academic-wise. Just need to nag him to practise his piano at times. DS2 may need some hand-holding later on. DD most probably will be like DS1. Will cross the bridge when we get to it I guess. πŸ™

Do you have twins too? \"Didi & meimei will be joining their brother in 2013?\" If my elder gal can enter NYPS in 2012 (which I prayed πŸ™ ), then my twins will also enter NYPS in 2013.

It's good to hear that student care helps in the students in their work. Do you intend to put them in studentcare all the way till P6?

              Hi i3mum

Yep, DS2 & DD are twins. Hope your kids will be in NYPS too!

For now, plan is to leave them in student care until P6. DS1 will be P5 when twins are in P1. DS1 may not want to stay on, but we cannot afford to leave him alone at home, unless we have alternatives to 'watch him'. Will have to see how things go.

NYPS having CNY cookies demo next Monday 1 Feb! PVs will be demonstrating how some of the traditional food are made. Kids will get to taste samples of the food during recess.

I'll be going to help. Any other parents helping out? Any demonstrators?

I helped out last year with the love letters - fanning the charcoal! πŸ˜“ It was fun & the kids were surprised to see what hard work it took to make the food (all of them) that they simply pick from the shelves & put into their mouths.
