Hi, I am new here and would like to get some advice from the parents who have the experience transferred their children to RL. I just submitted application form for my gal to transfer to RL next year P4. (Is it a bit late?) Currently she is a top student in another school. I would like to know when we can be informed about the outcome for the transfer. Do we need to call the general office to check? Will a top student have a higher chance to be accepted by RL or we need to live nearby (<2km)? Thank you for advice.

IMO, while the factors above may help (ie. top student, live nearby), there may be more reasons than those mentioned. Since it's just a guess on my part, I won't comment further.
I know some who are placed on waitlist of 1-2 years before being offered a place (eg DS classmate was offered mid-P5 but eventually din accept). I was one of the lucky ones as I had too applied after her P3 results were out. My dd was informed ~1-2 weeks b4 start of P4. I did call up to ask, probably it helped a little. You can try. But in most cases, think no news = no vacancies.
If can tt by P4, personally I think it's still ok. Dd was half-hearted initially, unwilling to leave her previous Sch & friends, but yet welcomed the RL challenge. Fortunately for dd, she was posted to the top 3 classes & so her engine was kept running, in fact much harder than previously. But there were some tough times - new environment, loneliness as she's an introvert, sudden increase in workload & standard etc, she cried a number of times in her first year at RL. As time went on, she overcome the challenges & is doing well in RL. She has just finished her PSLE this year. However, I do need to warn you......being a newbie, there was quite a bit of 'proving' required in the first year before she started getting opportunities eg. leadership, competition etc. So do be prepared.
I understand its not easy to tt to RL, so all the best to you. -
Thank you, becontented. It is very useful information. So we will mentally prepare for any possibility. ps. I am sure that your daughter can pass PSLE with a good result, as she can quickly adapt to a new environment and perform very well.

Hi, I am staying in Taman Jurong and selling a lot of P5 & P6 used assessment books under the garage sale. They are in very good condition.
