I am quite puzzle of the term tttan who use the term"neighbourhood children". In Singapore, everyone live in a neighbourhood. Unless you live in an isolated island elsewhere, you are not a neighbourhood. Rosyth will be a top school if your child study hard and does his homework properly. If you don want to contribute to this school, you can choose another school that has no neighbourhood children. Thank you.

Oustanding students are nurtured by dedicated parents, educated by people around them. Teachers are facilitator, the child is the key. If he put in his best, stay focus, he can do well in any school. On the other hand, if he is lazy and not focus, with no good home support, he will learn badly. Any Top school is not a magical place where it will transform any child to do well eventhough the child is lazy… they just have more concern parent that can ensure that their child stay focus all the time… In Singapore, a lot of top students are having tutions, no exception for Rosyth students.Having said this, there are still quite a big number of top students perform very wrll and not having any tution at all.

Every school is a neighborhood school in Singapore.

Schools like (nanyang, mgs, Rgps, acs barker) primary are also called "neighborhood" schools, in Bukit timah.

Schools like Scgs, acs junior are called neighborhood schools, in novena.

Schools like Henry park are called neighborhood schools in holland / ghim moh.

Thus, all primary schools are termed "neighborhood" schools.
There isn’t any primary school in sg, that does not fall into any neighbourhood.
Inside a neighborhood - is only whether there tend to be more Hdb flats, or tend to be more private condo / landed property ?
But, all are called neighborhood schools.

I totally agree with you , but we shall not dismiss the fact that peer influence is a major part of a student's life . If she has good company that works hard , he in turn would try her best to be among the friends . But If their friends are more playful , the kid will generally not want to work hard so as nt to be different and being labelled as weirdo or bookworm .

The birds of the same feather flock together. If your child is not motivated, he will want to be in a group of unmotivated children. So, each parent needs to make sure that their child is the motivated one so as to be able to grow in the right direction and company. Don't blame others when your child is not motivated to study. The problem is always from within, not from external influences. Every school has motivated children as well as unmotivated children. The type of company largely depends on who you is. I hope no Rosyth parent blame others when their child is not doing well.
