Totally agree. It is hard being parents nowadays cos of the system. Now I understand why some parents are more kiasu than before, all cos of the change of education system. -

What cfan said abt preparing our kids for next year is true, the syllabus is much harder than before and it is better to be prepared. Kids tend to be discouraged in studying when it becomes too hard for them, my son is like that and I am worried how he will be able to cope in P1 next year even though he has gone for chinese and English classes. To prepare them in advance is to let them hv an easier time to cope with their studies when school reopens. Really no choice even though I don’t like it. -
Seen the booklist?? P3 Science has total of 8 books........

When they are able to handle school work, then they will be happy at school.
If they can't, everyone of us will be unhappy.....

:nailbite: Sorry to interrupt, kid not from this school but just want to add something. These 8 books (textbooks and workbooks) will not help in preparing the kid for Science Open-Ended tests... You still need to buy many guide books from Popular if you want to score. (go read the P3 Science thread)Seen the booklist?? P3 Science has total of 8 books........

So, yes, parents must do a lot to help our children thrive. Tuition / parental coaching in every subject is not uncommon, esp for P3 and above.
