I see. My girl going 3A next year. I know it will be competitive and she may not be able to come witinin top 3 anymore . She actually told me she don't mind going 3B, so that she has a higher chance of being top 3 in class to attend the prize giving ceremony to receive the prize :roll:

Anyway , I told her it's doesn't matter. With no tuition or any enrichment class at all, she is able to do well without much guidance , I am quite happy.
Told her studying is not just about receiving the top prize . I want her to learn to be confident n learn to share .

So your girl is 1st, 2nd or 3rd? Must be proud to attend prize presentation. Are most of her classmates going to the same class as her?

Like to find out for kids taking higher Chinese , are they required to buy another higher Chinese text book . Looking at the book list , seems that only need to buy the normal Chinese text book.
Ya, u are right ,3A n 3B classes are the better classes. There are difference in the books used for English n math for 3A n 3B classes compared to the rest of the classes. Yangzheng has its own math supplementary booklets catered for 2 groups -3A n 3B and the rest of the classes. 3A n 3B classes are also using on sponge book .

By the way , are u also attending the prize giving ceremony today ?

Is the booklist for next year P3 out yet? I know that there is Higher Chinese textbooks available in the market...

Thks . She is lucky to strike the 1st prize . A handful of her classmates go to 3A . The boy in her class who is 3rd in class is posted to 3B .He is top in math last year. So I supposed the best students of the cohort are posted to the two classes with more better ones to 3A and some of the top ones to 3B.
The booklist is out but I find it puzzled with no higher chinese text included for those taking higher chinese .The list state only normal Chinese text to be purchased.

Thks a lot. Well , I was quite surprised when my mum told me over the phone that my girl came in first in class last year .Was happy n excited to look forward to the prize presentation ceremony then . This year , kind of knowing that she will likely to come in first again. So , not as excited as before. But did promise her to bring her for tour if she continue to do well . She complained that her classmates have been going for holidays whereas she hardly go anywhere for holiday .

I felt guilty about it . Due to my work commitment and laziness, I hardly plan for any holiday . So trying to plan for one in Dec this year . :roll:

Yes, DS is going to 3B, and brought home the book list last week too. He said that his teacher told him he's taking Higher Chinese, but indeed the text is only Chinese. Wonder why...

I've 2 kids in YZPS. DD is going to P5 next year, and DS is going to P3.

Seems like only yest that I brought DD to sch on first day, and was greeted by the 'Godzilla' mascot and had our photo taken near the gate, and also seeing a photo on ST front page the next day, on first day of sch -- and promptly saw my face inside

Yes, it is tough having to plan amidst work commitments... Will need to start planning quickly if you've not done so yet. It can be quite crowded i think to plan last-minute. Plane tickets or hotels might be full...

We're going away for a trip next week. We try to bring the kids out once a year, but am worried that they will take this as a given -- also I do not want them to go around comparing with classmates or boasting about it.
