I have some questions about Yr3 books. Can any of this year's Yr3s or their parents answer these questions? Thanks!

      1. Lit - is there a Shakespeare play done in Yr3? There isn't one on the booklist. I would have thought that there would definitely be a Shakespeare?

      2. Lit again - did this year's Yr3s do \"Joy Luck Club\"? If so, anyone with a clean, good condition Penguin edition to sell?

      3. Maths 1 - no textbook required? There is only an A. Maths book on the list.

      4. Sciences - no textbooks required?

The booklist has very little on it! It seems that textbooks are not required for most subjects.

Shakespeare is actually done sec 2 semester 1, so your DD probably missed it... The lit book for year 3 is indeed JLC 🙂 Math textbooks are as usual, untouched in class, be it math or a math, and same goes for science 🙂

The math books are kind of an optional extra practice actually ^^ If you feel like you need the extra practice or would like to drill yourself, there are questions in the book that would be able to be used 🙂

The textbooks are also a type of reference as well. Though untouched in class, you might need it to understand certain topics. I personally find that reading the textbooks are good for consolidation of what we learnt in class. ^^

        Hi all,

I'm an RGS-girl-to-be, and if all goes smoothly will start my time at RGS next year. I was just wondering if any of you know where to get the school uniform (whether it is available at Bibi & Baba's or we have to wait for the vendor), what is a required purchase (tie, name badge, etc.), and when to get the school uniform.

The full uniform list and address of the vendor, as well as information on the different parts of the uniform, are greatly appreciated.

        TIA!

        :thankyou:
        hi dear,
first of all, welcome to RGS! i cant believe its been almost a year since i've felt the way you do right now 🙂 i hope you're getting really excited about starting this new chapter of your life 🙂 it will be VERY fulfilling, trust me hehe.
secondly, the uniform is available at bibi&baba's, but you can purchase it on the day you get your school books and socks and all that good stuff. i think getting it on that day would be better, so you can just get all you need for the school year in one trip 🙂
name tags will be distributed in 2014, and yup you will know what you need to buy when you get your books and uniform, though i cant remember what that day is called oops.
        info on uniform:
        1) culottes: we wear them on Wednesdays usually, with our PE shirts. we also wear them with school-approved shirts sometimes on casual occasions ie. if you're going back for CCA (or at least for mine) or to pop in school for a short while to get something on a non-school day. THE SIDE OF THE CULOTTES WITH THE ZIP SHOULD BE WORN BEHIND
        2) pinafore: we pin our school badges/name tags on them
        3) ties: we wear them on Thursdays for morning assembly
        4) blouse: DO NOT BUTTON THE TOP BUTTON OF YOUR BLOUSE and fold the sleeves
        5) PE shirt: DO NOT BUTTON THE TOP BUTTON OF YOUR SHIRT and dont fold the sleeves
haha thats all i can think of at the moment 🙂

have a great holiday and get really excited about school!!!!!!!!!! you'll love it. (; and for the rest of the P6s, put your calculators down and stop calculating your potential PSLE score (omg i was doing this 24/7 around this time last year), have fun, and treasure you're primary school friends right now. all the best (though its a bit late) and be happy with your results 🙂 im sure you will do ABSOLUTELY WELL 🙂 hope you get into the school of your choice! you guys will be in my prayers 🙂

        love,
        your senior (???)
PS: if any of you are SN girls going on to RG please tell me xx

Question for the Yr 3 & 4 girls: the booklist for Yr 3 states "with ebook" for the Add Maths textbook (Shing Lee New Syllabus Add Maths). I see on the Popular website that the print and e-book are listed separately (and same price). Are we supposed to purchase both? Or will the ebook be given free with the textbook? Just confused. Thanks!

My DD did not use the text and e-book in Y3 and I doubt it will be use in Y4. I presume the book are for reference. The text book can be bought in Popular. If you need the text and the e-book bundle set, it could only be bought on Popular on-line or the school book shop.

Thanks! Popular Online lists the ebook as the same price as the print book. They don't seem to list the bundle, and the booklist doesn't either. How much did the bundle cost?

OK, that's what I wanted to know. Thanks! I thought it was too much to expect us to pay another $26 for the ebook if we were already buying the print one! Looks like I should check with the school bookshop.

Edited to add: The Add Maths book is now available in the school bookshop. The book+ebook bundle costs $32 in total and is only available from the school bookshop. They cost $26.95 each from the online store.

                      I am a Rafflesian-to-be. 😄 Yay.
Could you inform me on the time necessary for Yr1s' to report to school, normally?

                      TIA 😄
