Hello kaka thank u for ur sharing, greatly appreciate! As SST is very new to all of us, it's a new learning journey for the kids and parents too.

Can I chk are the kids require to use their mac book alot for their projects and research? Do they have alot of stay back just like their upper pri school days?
Yes they use the mac everyday. With CCA and some long days, normally he will reach home about 6pm.. may have one or two short days when he can be back by 3 -4pm.

Pls check the school website regarding DSA around in May and register your DS online. After that, the SST website will direct you to register your child for the General Ability Test (GAT) and Comprehension Reasoning Test (CRT) conducted by Principals Academy Inc (PAI). You can select the desired test date you want which are conducted from June to July.

If your DS pass the first round, SST will email to you and invite your child for the second round selection camp. During the camp, the students are divided into groups and need to perform a teambuilding task like maybe use the materials provided to build the strongest bridge, a model stand for bungee jump. There will be teachers assessing the students based on leadership, participation, teamwork, etc and some short interview.

Around end of Aug, SST will send a letter and inform the outcome: Confirmed Offer/Waiting List/Reject. For those on CO/Waiting List, the child's Primary School will give out a DSA letter for the children to exercise their DSA school option around in Oct.

In Nov when the PSLE result is released, those students who have participated in the DSA-Sec Exercise will be informed of the school allocation result as well. As long as your child is eligible for Express (COP around 200) and he is given a CO by SST, he will be posted to SST.

My DS just started Sec 1 at SST and he is soooo happy with his school. He can’t stop talking about how great the school is…he is enjoying the different approach and strong emphasis on ICT that the school has. He said that his classmates PSLE score mainly around 247 to 255 but since they went through the DSA so it does not matter anyway.

Hi AZmama, my DS also in sec 1 this year. He's also happy with his school. His classmates also score around 240 and I hope that with his low score he will be able to catch up with them.

Don't worry javbaby. I am sure your son will cope just fine. Sometimes children peak at different level and time. The school seems to emphasize on holistic learning about getting the kids to be more responsible like not having bell for start/end recess so that they have to manage their own time.
I also find the students are generally very happy and motivated, even the upper sec. I believe that if we tackle the motivation part and get them to be passionate independent learner, they will be fine whatever exam you ask to take.
Plus you can also see the first cohort o-levels results recently which was pretty good. I do believe the first intake probably had lower PSLE ave coz the school was new then. So don't worry and enjoy the ride 😄
