I just heard that the school conducts an unofficial streaming test for the P1s.Can any parents whose children have gone thru P1 at Evergreen enlighten me?Is this true?
Thanks a lot. -
AgonyMum:
When is this streaming test? Was it during orientation day? I remembered 2 years ago during my DS2 time, the kids did some simple written test on English and Maths on orientation day. Few days later then the school call and informed the parents which class your child was allocated to.I just heard that the school conducts an unofficial streaming test for the P1s.Can any parents whose children have gone thru P1 at Evergreen enlighten me?Is this true?

Hi hi...finally a response

ya,there was an aptitude test given to all the children on orientation day but this year, the kids were already alloted a class prior to orientation and your kids will stay in this class irregardless of how they performed in this test.
I just managed to find out via the formal channel....by calling up the school.Kids will only be band at the end of P1.
How old are your kids snowcrystal? Are they still in Evergreen?
What is your personal opinion of this school?
I chose it as it is the nearest school and it is convenient.Sort of regret a little bit now as I have heard a few \"not so good things\" from my kid.
I hope you can share some of your experiences with me as my kid is only in P1

Hi AgonyMum,
I hv 2 kids in this sch. DS1 just did PSLE last year, DS2 in P3 this year. I chose Evergreen also because it near to my mum place. Though all these years Evergreen is a popular choice for parents but I'm not sure why is this so . My DS1 had been through the last 6 years and I have no complain, in fact I was glad he had a dedicated & understanding FT taught him for last 3 years (P4 to P6). The last Principal just retired in Dec and a new one taken over this year, so not sure will there be any policy changes. Oh yes those who did well academically will put in best 2 or 3 classes from P2 onwards. You want to share what's yours \"not so goods things\" about the school? Maybe you want to PM me? -
AgonyMum, I have just PM you.

The new principal style is more towards academic.
I understand from my son (P4) that there will not be any CA for this year! Not really sure how they are going to grade them this year.
As for streaming I believe they do stream them (in P1) but not really sure how they do it.
My son was in the last class (I presume the worst) in P1 but luckily he was able to progress from 1 Truth -> 2 Truth -> 3 Mercy -> 4 Care.
The workload is totally different and he is already complaining about it but this should do him a world of good.
Also their Student Care (Powerlife Student Services) is improving every year (my poor kid has been there for 4 years already!) and they have recently added in a lot of enrichment courses for the kids. I think this is due to the new principal.

Welcome ParentAgony!
Though no CAs for P1 to P4 but there are 2 SAs in the year, on top of that there are ungraded tropical tests given. My kid in Powerlife Student Services as well, for 3 years already! I think they should know each other, ha ha!

Yup something like that as my kid do not like to say much! Now must read the dairy carefully everyday.
Your kid in P3 or P4? There are many kids there and if different level they might not know each other (by name anyway).
