Alamak, I wish I didn't read this. Hahaha
Heng Heng prawn noodle at Dunman HC also good and cheap. Once I saw him washing the used chopsticks (near closing time and he probably thought nobody was looking) simply by dipping them in the wash basin of water a few times and then putting them aside to dry. :!: No detergent, just rinsing :!: I stop patronising the stall for a long time.
Yucks, I eat there quite often as this is my favourite !! -

Kekkeke... like they say... that might be the little extra secret ingredient that gives that extra oomph.Alamak, I wish I didn't read this. Hahaha

Yes, I like this one as well as the one round the other corner along Anamalai that's run by an old lady and her daughters. She's much less atas and serves yong tofu too.if you live in the west, there's this small stall tucked between 6th avenue and bkt timah road...same coffee shop at ashton and opposite denise the wine shop.
Must warn you that it's the dark sauce version plus quite atas coz finish all supplies close shop for the day.
Enjoy! :celebrate: -

I was just chatting with a friend about wantan mee. Just wondering if more people prefer the black sauce wantan mee or the ketchap version? :?
I grew up on the ketchap version and am an avid fan of ketchap wantan mee. The one at Kovan hub hawker centre run by 2 Cantonese brothers and a lady gets my thumbs up! Anyone share the same sentiments as me, prefers the ketchap wantan mee to the black sauce version? -

Not sure what you meant by black sauce? Is it cantonese style??? I prefer the traditional style yes with ketchup, etc... versus the cantonese style.
Just tried a good stall at bugis junction. The stretch of coffee shop facing the public car park opposite illuma. At the last coffee shop nearer to Illuma, there is a good wanton mee stall. The serving is good too. At $3, think it comes with at least 5-8 wantons. -

I am not sure if the Cantonese version is the black sauce version, but I go for the ketchap version anytime.25hourmaid:

I believe the one at Bugis Junction that you mentioned is the ketchap version? Must go and try one day. -
I think this black / ketchup sauce is a country/cultural thingy??
DH is Msian and loves his wanton mee with black sauce. Says that's what he grew up with. Me, good ole' Spore girl (Hurray Singapura... :rahrah: ) loves my wanton mee with ketchup sauce.
And speaking of wanton mee, we went to this wanton mee stall at Tembeling Road for lunch yesterday and there was this confusion with the hawker as to whether they have it in black, ketchup or plain. :stupid:
It doesn't help that DH and my Mandarin is so bad, and the hawker's assistant from PRC. So u can imagine the sight!! Hands gesticulating to make ourselves understood. Sigh...
