I've never tried parking at the school, but r we allowed to park there while we wait for kid?

It is a challenge to park there. I will suggest you park at the Caltex petrol stations and get your child to call once they are ready to be pick up. They have close off the bus gate and that really limit the place you can park.

      Thanks for the advice ๐Ÿ™‚

So far so good! You already planning for next year?
Nay, not that. Coz, I've always felt somewhat guilty of forcing her into GEP. Hence, to a certain extent, I'm always looking for positive comments n feedback to alleviate this feeling. On the other hand, if I know that P5 is going to very tough, at least I'll have one year to prepare myself n her mentally. :xedfingers:

          Hi TwaTau,

Thanks for your valuable feedback abt workload for P4 and the school bus... ๐Ÿ˜„

For the family-tree project, my DS being new in such work, are kind of scare and the timeline can't wait for CNY. I'm curious if they are not exposed/trained to such approach e.g. project management, action research, how the hell do they expect them to know how to approach the project? I discussed with my wife and no choice, I must step in to guide him on the approach, but will still be him coming out with those questions and performing the interviews. I suppose u are right... when the workload start, I myself will not have those time to follow-up on worksheet, projects.

As for school bus, we still want DS to take it in the morning, but for those days he's staying back, my wife will pick him up, and later, we will train him to take public transport. I decided to change provider given they provided us false info back in Dec... so no pt continue to use their service. ๐Ÿ˜›

          TwaTau:
We help out quite a bit on DS's family tree project last year as we have quite a big extended family. The challenging part is they have to request for birth cert, marriage cert, of everyone going into the project. This is organize into a folder. Some of his uncle and aunties were concern about confidentiality and we gotten the reassurance from his SS teacher on this. Marks are allocated on the organization of the materials as well.

You will get quite a lot of challenges from the maths and science worksheet throughout the year, not just from the project. After the family tree, we stop helping on project and DS did most of it on his own after that, too much work for us, :siao: Beside project, they participate in Maths competitions organized by RI, NUSH, etc, although some of which are for P5 and P6, just to give them exposure. They also have to make team presentation on science project, and you can hear my DS on the phone, coordinating who do which part of the project. There are fun stuff as well, such as a competition among the GEP schools on a computer game call \"gut feel\" or something related to the digestive system.

            Hi cluelessmama,

I can understand how u feel... regardless of where u are in P4, school going to ramp her up to prepare for PSLE... pressure can't be avoided. It is either 'enjoy' doing projects, or focus on ramping up for PSLE. I would prefer DS to learn diff skillset and exposure ๐Ÿ˜Ž .

DS did tell me like back to P1, going to a new sch, new friend, new teachers. I read his english write-up yesterday night and he missed his former classmates and teacher. This is something we must take note... so going to talk to him and help him overcome such feeling. We also decided to enroll him in a sport he likes so that it helps in relieving stress level somewhat.
            :celebrate:

It really depends on what sort of skills/volunteers the school needs at that particular point in time.

It does help if you can teach a form of CCA like if you play some sort of instrument etc. or used to play some sport at a competitive level etc.

I read from the Henry Park website that pri 1 students have CCA.

                      (1) Is it true? Gotta be since its from the schoolโ€™s website right?
                      (2) how many CCAs per child? whatโ€™s the minimum?

                      Thanks!
My son will be registering this July to enter HPPS Pri 1 in 2011.

They do have the P1 in the scout group, if they have older sibling in there as well. Understand from the scout master that they will assess whether the child is able to take instruction and follow them before allowing them to join. The other possibility is that the child has external training and are good in those CCA.
