Pardon me if this seems silly. Is the triple Science stream still available or are most schools doing the double Science stream instead? For schools which offer both, would any one have any idea which is the more popular stream?
Thanks. -
If I am not wrong, most schools offered both triple n double sciences. Not sure abt neighbourhood schools though (I recall dh’s nephew is from neighbourhood school n he can only take combined science).
Traditionally Triple Science seems the more popular choice but ultimately, it still depends on individual’s preference.
My DS school this year has lesser Triple Science classes than previous years. Don’t know why the trend has changed. -

I know of a school in punggol that only allows a handful of students (less than 10 for each pure science subject) to do double sciences only. No student can do triple sciences.
For some neighbourhood schools, even though they offers triple science, the number of students are usually less than a class size. say if the class has 40 students, maybe only 15 can do triple sciences.
Even for the better schools, there will be more classes with Double Sciences as compared to Triple Sciences. I think one reason is because Triple Sciences students usually do 1 Humanities, but Double Sciences Students can do 2 Humanities or 1 Humanities and 1 other elective (like Economics, Arts, DnT, Drama, PE, POA, etc).
I also know some schools allow the students to do Pure Bio and Combined Science (Phy/Chem). -
My dd is having streaming next year . Can your kindly give a brief explanation on what and how is streaming like in sec 2 ? We are actually very clueless about it

-
How does streaming next year go? Is it advisable to choose triple science over double science ? How many subjects can a student choose up to ?
-
Is it very difficult to choose a subject combination?
What if the child is good at memorizing things ( that may help for bio ,history , and goeg) but not that good at subjects that need thinking ( for example, maths, physics, etc ) ? If the child is offered triple science, should she take it up ? Or should she choose double science instead? -
A better tomorrow:

The criteria for streaming, the subjects to take, etc will depend on the principal, the standard of the students and the school resources.
Most schools will conduct briefing to parents & students in Feb or Mar. Hence it is important for parents to attend the briefing session so as to understand more about the streaming process. -
