O, time I introduce myself also.

I’m working full-time. However, I work from home a lot, 80% of the time. I have 5 kids, ranging from 6 to 15 years old. Fun but tiring!

I agree it is hard to find the perfect job, especially if we want to watch our children grow and still manage a satisfying career. But I guess we just have to keep searching…

I work to keep sane, otherwise, I believe I will end up a child-abuser. The noise level will drive me mad. Out of the house with the kids in the morning, and back before they reach home, so they won’t miss me, I guess. Only problem is when the school has got emergencies. For my case, quite often given my 4th child is a special needs one.

I don’t have a maid, so I’m also the maid and driver. Ha ha… have adapted to this already!

        Hihi 2ppaamm!

Guess you are a great multi-tasker too.... :celebrate:
Child abuser.... 😉 , I know what you mean when the kids drive you crazy by testing their boundaries... :x  But after getting angry with them don't their hugs and \"I love you mummy\", simply melts you?? :ugogirl:

          Hi lovekidsverymuch,

Sounds great that you are able and allowed to work full-time FROM HOME. Guess you are a mum with perserverance as it’s unimaginable to handle 5 kids, household and full-time work without any maid’s help! Salute to you!

Me a FTWM with 2 gals aged 6 and 5. Thankfully, we managed to handle fairly well w/o help of stay-in maid nor parents. It’s tiring at times though but happy with the decision (used to have stay-in maid for 1.5 yrs). Child-care is our main help, support from hubby (and vice versa) and PT cleaning lady. For sake of kids and family, I’ve put my career advancement (promotion) on hold for many rounds and didn’t regret my decision. Looking fwd to negotiate for PT work schedule when my gal turns 7.

BTW, do you face challenges nurturing your 6 yr old? My 6 yr old is a bright gal but it seems that she nd to be always engaged else she’d start finding things to do and tends to go into over drive mood. She’s a very enjoyable gal to teach and be with except for the mischevious part. Exhausting sometimes esp after a day’s work.

No wonder woman lah. Just trying to cope with all my resources. I’m indeed blessed to land a full-time job that allows me time with the kids. However, like all mothers here, I did take a big pay cut and a big slowdown in my career move.

I had a bargain with God, and that is, when my kids are all grown up and have no need for my constant attention, I will return to my career in full force. And, by then, my eye sight should not have deteriorated, I should be exactly where I left off…

Meanwhile, just keeping the career ladder on the back burner…

Heh heh… hope that my little wish will come true.

As we wish that right even I too took sometime off working part time etc but then now came bac full time but definitely we are not the same 😞

Heh heh, no harm trying my luck right? In any case, quite glad my eye sight is still in tact despite being in my mid 40s. Yep, got another 5 years to go! Faith, faith, faith...

                  Oh, oh new club started.

Reporting :salute: FTWM, PT maid with a 3 yo DS.

Like Luvkid and heyhoe, am stuck in a low pay, no stress/overtime kinda job. It has been great, cos can reach home by 6 pm to cook dinner and be free to do my stuff after DS goes to bed.
After reading thru, felt a little intimidated and also like a lazy bum. DH hv been encouraging me to go for upgrading, but lazy and always giving excuses like tired, no time, too old 😛 But did tell him that if can be SAHM, then got possibility to do some courses. He said not for another 5 yrs 😢 🙏 he not making empty promises.

                        2ppaamm,

Wow! you have 5 kids and no maids!! Of course you deserve our praise and attention. I think you also make the government happy. Many kids and also never rely on foreign workers. High productivity!!! I m very sure you must have a very supportive hubby inorder for you to keep sane. Ha…good for you!

Now, surprisingly my boss did tell me that when actual retirement comes you don’t want to retire. You just want to continue working. Usually we envy but when we reached that stage, we don’t want to retire. I think maybe he might be half right but if you have an objective such as an interest or a goal to pursue, I don’t think you just want to work and work…
